Reviews of West Florida Railroad Museum
"It is a good place for kids to learn about inception of rail roads and how the technology has advanced from there. This place is rooted in history of the local region. Some of the attractions in the list provided by the welcome center were closed. However, I do recommend to visit the small rail track that is at the rear end of the museum. The employees are friendly and answer the questions that you might have for them. Overall, a definite place to visit if you love history!"
"This museum visit with 8 grandchildren, ages 3-12 was just great. The display showing miniature trains situated around the Milton and Pensacola train stations was amazing. George was our tour guide and did a wonderful job explaining the trains; various cars, connections, and break systems over the years, the telegraph, how the tracks, side tracks, communications, signals and mail system have worked and developed, and many other interesting details. Best of all was the larger train display and the little train ride for the kids at the end. The younger ones were a little bored occasionally, but it all really held the interest of the older ones and the adults. The museum is nonprofit with donations gladly accepted; definitely worth our time and contributions."
"This museum is utterly amazing! It was fun and I was floored by how much cool things there were."
"An immersive and educational experience for any age! On display were relics of the limited technologies that built many of the booming industries we use today. My kids loved the model train sets and the miniature train ride. Highly recommend for a fun family outing or just a solo trip to the past! Can't wait to revisit."
"This is really a first class museum. I wish we could have stayed longer. The baggage room and agent's office were the most interesting, but that's where we were able to spend the most time, so maybe if is been able to spend more time I'd prefer another room. There's lots of information about the beginning of the railroad in Florida, and how it progressed. Another room (one of the waiting rooms) is filled with stories of all the personalities involved in the railroad. So fascinating! There's also a caboose you can climb around on and a couple train cars used for special events. Very well done! And free!"
