"Clean rooms, friendly service, good room furnishings, well-stocked kitchen, convenient airport shuttle. AC is loud and not that effective, building style seems dated, mattress is uncomfortable (can feel the springs), and generally a bit overpriced. Does not meet the usual high standards I expected from a Marriott property."
"Warm welcome was the first thing that my service animal and I received. The front desk clerk was extremely polite and asked the right questions. Showed us to our room. They are a little small but not cramped. The small TV in the room welcomed us too. Provided the weekly forecast but seemed like an afterthought based on the placement in the room. I would love to give it more stars than just 3, but the bathroom has looked like it was flooded and just painted over the sheetrock to cover it up. This was way better than what I expected based on the reviews."
"I booked the TownePlace Suites by Marriott in advance because it was affiliated with the Clayman Thyroid Center and offered the sprinter van service to and from the hospital, and my family member helped arrange the friends and family rate. I was excited about the hospital sprinter van service so I did not have to try to set up renting a car or driving in an unfamiliar area after my cancer surgery. I booked 6 weeks out to ensure everything went smoothly. Three days before my check-in and cancer surgery, I called to see if I could possibly check in 2 hours early. I was told that it is a busy time of year and they could not promise me anything, but that I could call the morning of my reservation and check availability. Even though this would mean I would be calling when I got off my plane, I understood and planned to do so. Then the gentleman said that “by the way, as of today, we are under new ownership and no longer allow the sprinter van service to and from the hospital that you inquired about” (he had remembered that I called 6 weeks prior to ensure the service was offered). He said he was doing me a favor by letting me know about this change (even though I had called the hotel about an unrelated question, and otherwise would not have known until my arrival). The staff member did not apologize or offer alternative suggestions. The male staff member was obviously annoyed when I asked about whether the hotel had come up with any ways to assist their customers who no longer had transportation for early morning surgeries and had not budgeted for this. He stated that the hotel had no responsibility to help. Frustrated at the amount of disregard the hotel had for their customers, I requested that they cover the cost of the ride shares I would now have to arrange (while I prayed that there were rides available at 4:30 am). Even then, the staff member said he would consider asking his managers but could not “promise anything since the managers don’t work over the weekend.” I ended up having to wait until Monday, when I flew in to Tampa, to be told at the front desk that they would cover one way to the hospital. When I already had to worry about cancer and undergoing surgery and the financial stressors or that, I did not expect to be lied to and treated so poorly by a hotel with such well-known branding. I highly advise that you AVOID the TownePlace Suites by Marriott for your travel and go with a company who cares about its customers. I have already notified the hospital of this encounter so they are able to warn other patients."
"We had a short stay, excellent service by the front desk and the breakfast area ladies. Everyone went out of their way to be helpful. Very special shout-out to Shasta, you are so kind. Room was in great shape, seating wasn't the most comfortable in the room (large overstuffed chair) but my goodness, all the extras -- cooktop, full fridge, microwave, full set of serving dishes, everything sparkling clean. It's right by TPA but the noise wasn't a factor for us. No dining on-site but front desk directed us to nearby dining with a good menu, also another nearby option, both a very short walk away. Would stay here again."
"** Since the business has decided to comment. My group of SEVEN was offered a smaller room (Studio) compared to our two bedroom suite. So no, that did not work for us hence why we said no. All other issues including the roach and toilet paper were absolutely brought up to the front desk as they were the ones that came up to the room to handle the disgusting state this room was in. We were also asked to go buy our own fan and then get a reimbursement. I'm sorry, but on vacation I don't believe a customer should be asked to go to Walmart to fix the hotels disaster. Please do not try to make it look like this comment is coming from a problematic customer. This was a genuine BAD experience at a POORLY run hotel and future customers should be aware of it.** Really confused as to how this hotel has the positive reviews it has. As someone who reads these reviews to make a decision I appreciate honesty. My family and I unfortunately had a terrible experience at this hotel. I will start with the staff was kind enough to comp us for the first night and a portion of the second night. We stayed here for two nights for a concert nearby. Upon arrival to the room, we noticed it was hot in the room and immediately turned down the AC. The AC system never kicked up that night. We called the next morning to let them know the AC was clearly broken. The person did offer us a smaller room but with 6 people it was not a good option plus we were arriving late from a concert that day. During night two, we arrived late from a concert to a room that no one ever attended while we were away. No towels and no toilet paper. This was another HOT night. We all tried to take cold showers but that wasn't an option either. The only water coming out of the shower head was hot water. So add that to the already hot room. I also want to add that the rooms were disgusting. There was clear water damage on the roofs and walls. We woke up to a cockroach on the carpet the last morning. The bathtub had clear stains all over it. Overall will NEVER stay or recommend this hotel again."
