"Last minute booking brought us to Hawks Cay for our couples trip to Miami and the Keys. It seemed so family friendly - making us miss our kids. Food was overpriced, but was outweighed by an amazing hot tub in the room, very comfortable beds and a gorgeous view. Wish we could have stayed longer!"
"Gorgeous! My room led out onto the adult-only pool. Very quiet. I enjoyed a beautiful sunrise then watched the in residence dolphins play before feeding time. Great restaurant: Angler and Ale."
"We stayed 4 nights at hawks cay in the sunset villa. The amenities at this resort are nice but need some TLC especially for the cost to stay. The pirate ship splash pad is fun for kids but is falling apart. The villa we stayed in was 5024 and was extremely used and abused (cabinets didn't close, paint missing, scratches on dressers and floor, dishwasher not mounted). TV in living room is very small and needs to be upgraded. The worst part was outside our villa it smelled like sewer. I notified the front desk and they said they would check on it but never followed up. FYI for parents with little ones - these villas have a stair case in it and wish I would've known. Luckily the resort was able to deliver a gate to avoid an accident with my one year old. Main pool is nice and so is the front lobby but just know if you plan to eat or drink at any of the restaurants at this resort, that it is very expensive. $20 a mixed drink, $30+ for food (even just at the tiki bar) Overall we made the most of our trip but hope in the future that resort puts some money into their amenities (since they charge a $55/day resort fee) and their villas since they are very run down."
"I have been visiting Hawks Cay for more than 35 years. Today I had the pleasure of speaking with Stephanie, a reservation specialist. She was so professional and pleasant. She was able to help me out with my family's reservation. In today's world, where there is almost no good customer service, Stephanie is a true gem. If you ever need to make a reservation, she is the person I would recommend that you speak with. Many thanks to you Stephanie!!! :)"
"From the minute we arrived the service was the worst we have ever experienced. Arrived 15 minutes before check in. After a bad fall at the airport, my wife had a sprained wrist and bloody face, the room was not ready and we asked if we could see the room before we took it. They said they would call when the room was ready and that would be fine. Approximately 20 minutes later we received the call and when we approached the front desk to go see our room we were told it was booked and that was that. The room was on the second floor, no one directed us and it was extremely confusing the way the building/room numbers are. We had to ask which way to even go to our room from the lobby. The room was very nice, it overlooked the adult pool, although it would have been nice to be on the ground floor after my wifes fall because the elevator broke twice. We went to the front desk when this happened and asked how to get to the second floor. The girl at the front desk just pointed in the other direction and that there was another elevator there. There are no visible signs for the elevators, bathrooms, stairs, just EXIT signs. After waiting for the other elevator for quite a while, it became obvious it was not leaving the second floor. I again went to the front desk and again the girl pointed down the hallway for me to take the stairs. What! Why does the staff think I know my way around and at this point I am in pain again. I also forgot to state, it was pouring outside. The elevator stopped working another time during the week stay we were there, unacceptable for the expense, which brings me to the price. Every single person we talked to at the resort either got some kind of deal or at least free drink tickets and were asked if they were there for a special occasion. We got nothing, we were never asked anything. I originally thought I was booking an all inclusive resort (my fault) but when I did realize it was not, I could not get reimbursed. The prices were ridiculous, which brings me to the restaurant, Prime. The food was very good but we only went there twice because it was very pricey. A few days later we sat at the bar to get a drink before we went out to eat and sat there for a while. Another couple was eating at the bar and being tended to, the bartender finally acknowledged us so we figured he would be right over and instead he left the bar. We left. The whole time the host was right there and said or did nothing. This was just the way our whole trip was at this resort, we felt invisible. I had fallen and was unable to utilize some of the freebies so I was quite happy in the hot tub.......until it broke. It was fixed the following day but really???? There were two weddings on the premises we could not leave our slider open on those nights because it was loud. Valet parking is not even included and once we realized it was an additional charge we parked ourselves but....at checkout we were charged for valet every day. Thankfully in reviewing the bill I had it taken off. The second day of our stay my wife went to get a pedicure. They had no one but took her number to call with availability and that call never happened. I then tried to book massages at the end of our stay and got an answering machine. They called back hours later, again, no availability. The tables by the pool were left dirty and the chairs had bird poop on them but someone came out every day with a loud leaf blower to clean around the pool. All in all, in a world where customer service is beyond lacking these days when you spend tons of money to go and relax and be pampered for a while, this place fails miserably. I did talk to Lucas the Manager and he did what everyone seems to do these days, attempt to pacify us with a sorry it wasn't up to your expectations. We cant get back our time or money and always try to make the best of it but will be leaving this place behind us for good. Your front desk is the face of your business and if you don't start training your staff to be more helpful and courteous, this place will receive more bad press."
