Econo Lodge Defuniak Springs I-10

"Nice rooms for the price. Quiet. Service was good. Stayed 2 nights. 2 locks on the door which I like. Parking is kinda tight. All ground level. Right off I-10."

"Rooms were cleaner than most econo lodges. Walls are real thin so I could hear the neighbors conversation as if we were in the same room. No breakfast and no entry to the front desk. Business is done thru a night window which was super inconvenient given it was very cold outside. The one complaint I have is how crowded the place was due to the way they placed renters. Instead of spreading guests out they placed them side by side making it very crowded. It was inconvenient."

"Awful and will never recommend this chain again. Non-smoking room that smelled like smoke and the comforter had a cigarette hole in it. Sheets were dirty, floor was sticky and a mess. Told the front desk guy who only offered a new comforter. Disgusting!"

"Well when we arrived the room looked very nice and clean. Unfortunately that didn’t last long. There was a roach crawling across the desk in our room. The picture is after I killed it and threw it in the garbage. And also the ice machine doesn’t work. Big inconvenience for someone who is vacationing in Florida and needs ice when on the beach. Also the draining in the tub sucks. It filled with water while I was showering. Won’t be back!"

"Trash! The service, the rooms, the whole building needs to be demolished. The air conditioning units leak and I do not mean drip, water leaks out inside the room, the linens and towels are disgusting; stains and cigarette holes burnt into them. The pillows smelled of mildew and must. There were about 14 flies in the room and bathroom upon entering with no fly swatter at front desk. The housekeeping attendants beat on the door at 7 AM just to find out if you're checking out or staying, but they seem to still be cleaning when trying to check at 5 pm in the evening. (It takes that long to clean a room but somehow the room still ends up smelling and looking filthy!) If they provide a remote to the TV the batteries don't work. The cable will only allow 4 or 5 channels to be played and in the middle of watching something the signal will be lost. No telephone to phone the front desk, the door lock was half of a pair of pliers screwed on but not too tight where you couldn't turn it to go over the door to serve as a latch. (I am not joking and this is the Gods honest truth, I am in no way mad at this place of business or anyone affiliated with it; this just happens to be the conditions of this place.) The ice machine doesn't work, the one soda machine will give you a HOT can soda for 2 dollars! The parking lot is the cleanest part of this hotel. Couldn't tell you about the lobby they do not allow guest inside. There are guests who stay weekly I'm assuming or they live there I don't know but they are in and out all hours of the night, have frequent visitors all hours of the night and hang out playing music, talking loud into the early parts of the morning with zero regard for the neighboring room. What has to be the scariest, most horrifying, utterly disrespectful part about my stay at this place is the unorganized, mismanaged and absolute neglect in checking guests in and out. At about 2:30 AM I was woke up by a young couple entering into the room I was in! When they seen the room was occupied they quickly closed the door to which I heard the fellow say S@&+ someone is already in that room. By the time I got up and opened the door they were driving around to the back part of the building. I immediately called the front desk but got no answer. I called until finally someone sounding half asleep informed me that I would have to call back at 6 am when a member of management was there. I was furious and due to what has just transpired I was anxiety ridden and wouldn't dare go back to sleep; even if I was able to. I stayed awake and when 6 am came I found myself at the front desk window explaining my concerns. Management could care less, offered no remorse, no compensation and barely apologized in a manner that I could understand. This place has no interest in providing a clean and safe environment for it's potential guest. It's obvious when you see management drives Bugattis but they can only put a working light bulb in 2 of the 8 light fixtures in the room. I do not recommend anyone stay here, not one night, not a weekend, not ever."
