"I finally got up the nerve to request an appointment and follow through with much needed surgery after losing 50lbs and being down 6 inches and 3 dress sizes. My need is not just for aesthetics. Excess skin is causing issues. I live in South Florida and was going to be in Miami. I was hoping to get an appointment for consultation with Dr. Salzhauer. I've been researching this for quite sometime and made some significant changes in myself. I've spoken with my PCP about it. She saw no reason for me not to have the surgery. No one answered the phone. I left 2 messages. I got a text from someone who said her name was Rosy. They asked a few questions which I answered. One of which was my age. I am 60 and in pretty good health. Her reply was "unfortunately our anesthesia team does not operate on anyone over 50..but you can contact *** Aesthetics they are great and located in Ft. Lauderdale." I asked for another referral because I could not find the place recommended. I suspect I was then blocked because I never got a reply. I still have the text messages. I consulted with a local plastic surgeon who laughed and said " are you sure you were communicating with a real person?" He also said " There are some 30 and 40 y/o who are higher risk than some 50 and 60 y/o's." After taking my medical history he said "you are not high risk for anesthesia." "I do surgery on 50, 60 and over often." He even has pictures of them on his before and after page. This surgeon spent some time with me and took a thorough history. Having a medical background and treating many patients in New York as an EMS provider, EMS instructor and 911 rescuer I understand and respect the importance of being honest about ones medical history; not only for the surgeon and anesthesiologist but for my own health and safety. I felt terrible about myself. Everything I read about Dr. Salzhauer has been great. I really want and need this surgery. Like I said, it took a lot to get up the nerve to ask for a consultation only to be denied without even meeting me and taking a history from me because of my age. Age is just a number. Everyone runs their practice differently, I guess. I wondered if Dr. Salzhauer even knows this is what some people are being told? Ageism is wrong. It's hurtful."

"Dream Team I was truly blessed to be in the incredible care of Dr. Salzhauer (Dr. Miami) and his spectacular team. This experience was life changing and every step of the way I felt special and received genuine support from each person I spoke with. I was in the hands of the BEST PLASTIC SURGEON in the UNIVERSE. I booked my appointment in December of 2018 with Ari, she was so sweet and answered every question or concern. I was scheduled for surgery on July of 2020. I scheduled a Mommy Makeover (Tummy tuck, breast lift-no implants, bbl, and arm liposuction) I had my phone consultation a few days after I booked my surgery. Dr. Salzhauer was so kind and charming. His energy makes you feel like you’ve known him forever. We discussed what my body goals were and he was so diligent in explaining what would be done and how he’d meet my expectations. We discussed my medical history. He also explained how doing physical activities such as working out after recovery would make my results look even better. I was honored that he took the time to answer any questions I had and discuss my surgery. Surgery day finally arrived and the experience with the pre-op, surgical, and post-op/recovery team was amazing!! Pre-op care— Rosy - incredible human being. She answered any questions I could think of and assisted in any payment arrangements that needed to be made. I applied for Alphaeon Credit with her assistance, which was very helpful in covering the surgery and recovery stay at the hotel. Alphaeon had a great promotion for repayment. Tatiana - very responsive and helpful throughout the entire process, also had me pumped right before surgery. Keka - appreciated the pre-op check-ins months prior to surgery and you alleviated any stress or concerns I had. Chelsea - very kind and gentle during pre-op visit. I don’t like needles (haha), but she was super gentle and quick when drawing blood. Sonia - soo sweet and gentle during the pre and post-op sonogram to check for blood clots and ensure you’re healthy/ready for surgery. Surgical Team — Barry (anesthesiologist) - calmed my nerves, made me feel comfortable right before surgery. Ahresh, Jerome, and Mary — amazing team; they all greeted me and introduced themselves right before surgery, very kind. Post op/recovery care — Cindy (nurse) woke me up after surgery, she was soo sweet. She said I woke up smiling. She gave me Gatorade and had me covered in this huge heated blanket. I woke up feeling very warm cozy. I stayed at the Tryp Wyndham hotel (right next to the office) I was picked up by Shawn (recovery nurse) and was well taken care of every day the entire time I was there by Ms. Claudia, Yeilin, and Shawn. They assisted me with everything, from medications, showers, food, anything you can think of, they were either right there or one call away. Dr. Miami and Rosy came to visit me (and other patients staying at the hotel) every day. Thank God there was no issues, but I’m super thankful that they were very involved and easily accessible in our post-op care. :) I’m writing this review 1.5 years post op. :) Dr. Miami gave me my dream body!!!!!! "Cant wait to have my procedure with Dr Miami. The only surgeon i trust. (Breast augmentation) Update: So today's the day, the day i have been waiting for since 2011. I finally mustered up the courage to do it. April 24 2017. I am so happy with my results. Dr Salzhauer and his team were so nice and patient. Especially tatiana and monica! Tati was there for me every step of the way and monica did the best she could to get me another appointment date as soon as possible when i had to reschedule my appointment. Berry the anesthesiologist is hilarious! He is nice and he made my mother and i feel very comfortable. Dr. salzhauer aka dr. miami, will go above and beyond to make sure you are happy with your results. He will give you recommendations also. He is very good at what he does I love this team and am so happy that i decided to go with him. The whole process was a breeze. The following day, he sends a nurse to your home of hotel room to check on you. The facility is also very clean. What more can i say??? He is freaking awesome!!!!!"
