"This is not a very efficient or well organized place. My insurance requires procedures to be done at an Advent Health facility. I informed this office of that fact on our very first phone call, and every subsequent call thereafter. I was told yes, no problem, we work with Advent and can schedule you whenever you want. This was about a routine colonoscopy which I wanted done on a Friday (my day off). They repeatedly told me yes yes yes to everything I asked about. When I showed up for the initial consult, Dr. Alarakhia was nice and we got along great. But after collecting my copay, the office staff then informed me that my insurance required the procedure to be done at Advent (which I had told them several times), and that they only had privileges at one Advent facility. It was 45 minutes away in another town and they were only there on Tuesdays. WHY did they not tell me this before? I feel I could not have been more clear. I specified multiple times about scheduling...on every single phone call before the appointment...and was repeatedly told that they could do my procedure at Advent on a Friday, as I requested. This is a perfect illustration of how the medical community doesn't care at all about the convenience of their patients. This could have been handled on the phone in less than a minute if they had been honest with me about this up front. Instead, they chose to mislead me into an appointment and an unnecessary $100 copay. What they did was unprofessional, uncaring, and dishonest. I am filing a complaint with my insurance company about Gastroenterology Consultants CFL. This situation was completely avoidable, but nobody bothered to verify the information they were giving me. It doesn't matter how great the Dr is when the office is giving out bad information to the patients and costing us unnecessary time and expense."
