"I was in a world of hurt and suffering before I came to this treatment center. My first day I was nervous and scared, but I was shortly proved there was nothing to worry about. The other guys in my house, hedge, were welcoming and supportive. I grew life long friendships with some of them, actually. The staff were unbelievable. They were encouraging, supportive, and knew how to operate, especially the counselor assistants. The emotional support was some of the best honesty and realistic self help I believe I’ll ever receive. We constantly went on trips to the beach and park every weekend, not to mention the outings. Wakeboarding, trampoline parks, escape rooms, paintball, and many more. The program will always have a special place in my heart, for I will never forget my time there. Special thanks to the employees, clinical coaches, and therapists. I will never forget what you taught me."
"I would not recommend Family First if your child has a significant substance abuse or mental health issue. My child was discharged after 3 days because of "behavior". It was disclosed that my child suffered from ODD, Depression and Anxiety so the fact that he would require redirection should not have been a challenge for a well qualified team. Opioid addiction is why we sought treatment. My child was discharged without a referral to a more suitable facility for a door to door transfer. My son passed away from an overdose 60 days after being released. I do not blame Family First, but If they had been honest about their level of care I would have found a more suitable place to take my son."
"I just recently graduated from FFAS, and I can't be more grateful for the care and treatment that was provided to me, it truly changed my life around and I'll be forever grateful. I went in clearly upset, but I quickly learned that the staff members there were more relatable than I would've ever expected, which helped greatly throughout my treatment. Rather than being authoritative and cracking down constantly, I saw the staff more as friends rather than an authoritative figure, but at the same time when action needed to be taken, all staff were efficient in shutting down the situation, whatever it may be. I grew so close to a majority of the staff there. The main reason for that was because of their age, being older, but not that much older that I couldn't relate and talk to them. Staff was always there for me I felt, and I knew that no matter what I could go to them with my issues, which was wildly comforting, and I want to thank each and every staff that I got close to while I was there. The staff can take jokes, and they would also deliver jokes, making them seem more friendly rather than someone to be weary of, but at the same time all the kids know the limits with staff, and know that they have the final say when it's time to lock in and shape up. When it came to the other clients that were there during my stay, there was obviously drama and some situations that could've been avoided; after-all we were all teenage boys who didn't want to be there. When those situations went off however, staff were quick to step in and deescalate the situation calmly and professionally. During the aftermath of an incident too, if a kid needed support, that support was always there. The only downside I can think of would be the food situation. Fast food, all day, everyday. It evolved during my stay, but at the start I would only have fruit/vegetables once a week practically, which luckily wasn't the case at the end of my stay. Another thing about the food was the fact that it would sit out in cardboard boxes for HOURS before we would be able to eat, so in most cases the food was soggy, cold, and not enjoyable to eat whatsoever. I will forever be indebted to Family First, they truly were there for me during arguably my darkest time, and they helped me grow into the young man I am today."
"my parents sent me to this place and i did not wanna go, but over time i adjusted and became the person i am today. because of this i am very thankful for all the staff at family first and the continued support even after i left is awesome. this place isn’t just a rehab and it has so many other important parts to it. from going to the park and playing basketball to even driving an hour to go go karting. we even deep sea fished once. the therapeutic aspect is so structured and the family help is unreal. my relationship with my parents was not healthy and because of this place we are better than ever communicating very strongly. and what better place to go to rehab than the beach. that was very therapeutic. thanks family first!"
"This place saved my son’s life six years ago. Today he is a successful young man (21 years old) who has a great job he is good at and he owns his own home. He loves his life and this place helped him realize that good things were ahead. I might also say that I am certain God dropped this place on our lap when I was convinced all was lost. This place is a gem and is doing God’s work. Don’t be afraid to bring your child here."
