"This center doesn't utilize a trauma-informed approach and treats clients as objects rather than references in their recovery. I received no individualized sessions during my time as an adolescent at this facility. Instead, the framework utilized was public shaming and humiliation. I was not given food due to my dietary restriction when I arrived, and it took days for them to accommodate me. We were stripped of our clothes, given scrubs, and I was even made to earn my contacts back (only granted glasses.) These things are fundamental rights, not priviliges. To earn these possessions back, you had to share personal traumas in front of a room of 20 people in lab coats. I would have nightmares about the facility and wake up every day to my same living nightmare. Do not send your children or loved ones here; as someone in the field myself, there are plenty of other compassionate options that care for your wellbeing."
