With over 17 years of clinical experience in various settings, including outpatient clinics, crisis intervention, therapeutic foster care, large non-profit organizations, and school mental health programs, Steven has a wide range of experience working with adults, couples, children, adolescents, and families from diverse communities, including LGBTQ individuals and those with HIV. Steven's approach emphasizes mutual goal-setting for therapy and providing ongoing assessment of the therapeutic approach. He uses a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Crisis Intervention, Psychoeducation, and Mindfulness/Self-Care practices, among others, depending on the individual's needs. Steven continues to seek ongoing updates to his skills and knowledge and is a Certified Trauma Professional.
Dedicated to a more integrative, dynamic, and holistic approach to mental health, Steven believes in exploring and educating individuals on how the mind, spirit, and body are interconnected. His theory is that when people have hope and can learn to challenge and replace irrational thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes, they are free to experience change.
