Reviews of Premier Community HealthCare, Zephyrhills Behavioral Health Center
"Im changing drs for my children. The last 3 times I tried to get them in for a sick visit ive been denied. Do better!"
"Sharda Vekariya, the nurse practitioner I had a session with, was extremely unprofessional. I came in seeking treatment for my ADHD and binge eating disorder. Our appointment was for 9 AM; I showed up early, and still waited a whole hour for her to see me. In the time I was waiting, I saw her take another patient so I know that she double booked herself. No explanation was offered to me, no one asked if I wanted to reschedule, no one even told me what was going on--I was simply expected to wait. When I finally got to see her, she sat in front of her computer and read some questions off it. Half the questions were not relevant to what I was seeking treatment for, and most of the time I was not given space to actually answer anything I had been asked. She would jump in almost immediately and tell me what she thought the answer to the question was based on assumptions she was making about me. Finally, she told me she would not be able to prescribe me any medication for my ADHD without access to my medical history--which is fine, but I was not made aware of this beforehand. I would have come prepared had I known this would be the case. She did say that she would prescribe me something to help with my binge eating disorder. She wrote a prescription for Zyprexa. I asked her multiple times what kind of medication it was, and all she said is that it would help with my binge eating. She did not give me any instructions for use, did not say if there were any substances I couldn't take with the medication, did not let me know of any potential side effects...I had to Google it for myself and found out Zyprexa is an antipsychotic used to treat schizophrenia--and not only that, it has a higher rate of weight gain and increased appetite than any other antipsychotic on the market. And I was prescribed it for treatment of a binge eating disorder. It's highly unethical that I was prescribed this medication that I didnt even need and could potentially have serious consequences. It's obvious she was just giving me something to keep me happy; if I was someone who had no previous experience with psychiatry or mental health medication, I might have blindly followed her suggestion and would have been worse off for it. I cannot recommend enough that you go somewhere else for treatment, or at least request a different provider. Sharda does not care about providing actual care, she is just there to collect her check."
"Being diagnosed with Crohn's disease 30 years ago, I have been able to control my symptoms naturally, holistically, with functional medicine and diet/healthy living choices. Within that 30 years I've had 3 uncontrollable flares which required pharma drugs and hospital stays, which I am currently recovering from. Due to loss of insurance, contacting COVID twice in 4 months really triggered by far the worst flare I've had. Being extremely sick for 2 months, I arrived by ambulance and proceeded to spend 3 weeks in the hospital, where I was blessed with the opportunity to receive caring, responsive, compassionate care from Dr. Salem & Dr. John. I had no idea who any of my care takers were so I literally put my life in the hands of Drs and Nurse who were complete strangers. I was made to feel listened to and they are very thorough with their progress plan. The thing I admire the most is these Drs follow an organic and healthy approach to wellness instead of giving you a load of medications. I can't be more thankful to each and every person who has been involved in my journey to remission. I thank Jesus, our Savior for hand picking and guiding my Drs."
"Therapy with Jackie L and medication management with Dr Thomas Stross is really helping me get back on track. I feel better than when I started coming in. I'm still a work in progress but thankful for them both. Highly recommend both of them. Not judgmental and very understanding of their patients."
"My husband left several messages with staff due to needing additional meds. It's been five days now and no one responds to him. Today he was told the Dr had been out of the office. He couldn't be told that five days ago? Terrible terrible treatment to an older gentleman that needs medication. Can't wait to be able to switch plans."
