"Wow, this insurance company is an absolute nightmare. We filed a claim for water damages in July of 2023. Our home is still not repaired and it’s now 2024. The customer service has proven themselves to not care. We’ve sent multiple emails, calls, left voicemails, and they still continue to drag their feet. We also just found out that they closed our claim, so no adjuster is assigned or taking any accountability/responsibility on our behalf. The claim has not been resolved and my home has not been repaired. I have two small children, ages 4 and 6, who are also suffering due to the lack of professionalism, communication, and due diligence this company is unwilling to enforce. This company is not acting in an ethical manner and is in fact very shady. This company has taken my money and when I actually need their help, they won’t do the right thing. I am disgusted, disappointed, and regretful of ever choosing this company as part of my homeowners insurance. Beware!"

"Initially I was excited about the possibility of finding a great rate for home owners insurance as well as having the convenience of a direct contact with a representative however, communication became scarce and when I needed some fairly straight forward questions answered in a timely manner in order to close on my house my representative quit responding to emails and texts. I ended up switching to another company last minute for our home owners coverage and still have yet to receive a reply in regard to the questions I emailed about. I am not even sure if he knows I cancelled the policy. I went with Progressive and received a better policy with a multi-policy discount. Sometimes it's better to just stay with the big guys."

"Let me tell you, being a homeowner going on 20 years and two houses, dealing with your insurance company is most definitely one of the experiences you look forward to the least. So when it came time to purchase my latest home and a co-worker sang the praises of Universal Direct, specifically representative Derwin McCarthy, let's say I was still a little skeptical. But dealing with Derwin through the whole process has been a delight! He has a very calm and reassuring demeanor that made me feel very comfortable. More importantly, on two recent occasions when the underwriters tried to remove a credit and then a week later cancel my policy, Derwin stepped up to the plate and went to bat for us to clear everything up. It's a huge weight lifted off your shoulders when you don't have to worry about that stuff and have a strong rep backing you all the way. So while I don't have a ton of great things to say about the underwriting department, the customer service and front office staff have been top notch and that goes a long way."
