"My boys have been training at JKI Miami with Sensei Saito and his sempais for about 8 years now, and it has been great. The students learn about the Japanese culture, traditions, discipline, focus, in addition to the technical aspects of shotokan karate. There are a few classes that are specifically for "advanced" belts, otherwise all levels train together, and often, black belts will work with "lower" belts in smaller groups, which allows the students to get more personalized instructions."

"I would go here when I was younger. My middle school was across the street and I would come train here right after. As a middle aged boy, I was playful and I would usually joke around. On one memorable day the owner of the studio decided to grab a bamboo stick and hit my leg at full strength. It hurt so bad I teared up and tried to finish the class to avoid embarrassment. When I got home and saw my leg and it was extremely bruised, I showed my parents and they never allowed me to return to Japan Karate-Do. I never understood why this guy found it “ok” to hit a child, until this day I never understood. For the parents that leave their kids at places like this, be watchful.
