"As a current employee, I'd like to comment on two great departments here at Winkler Court! First, our Physical Therapy employees who provide compassionate and professional treatment while assisting patients in recovering their independence and dignity. Secondly, our Activities Director is dedicated to enriching our residents lives with physical, cognitive and socialized activities while implementing these programs with zeal and positivity. These programs are an integral component of our overall care to the residents."
"Office admin (esp Marlene & Diana) are friendly & super helpful, most of the care team seem nice, nurses are sweet. Activities dir & nutritionist are great. Mom seems well taken care of & clean when we see her. Facility is clean, but could use some upgrades—I’ve noted non-working TV’s, beds, lights in the rooms Mom has been in. Some care team staff have been hard to reach at times, and trying to call Mom is really difficult—she does not have a cell phone & has to use the shared portable phone there. Also had frustration with her clothes—brought 3 sets, tried to get them labeled there, and they disappeared. Glasses were lost. She always has clean clothes on when I see her & she has glasses now, so I’ve let it go. I would recommend only sending items there that you don’t mind losing & labeling yourself. I refuse to accuse staff of taking things unless there is proof—but logistically it seems hard for the facility to keep track of stuff. Staff is good about communicating issues & I got calls to sign Mom up for vision and dental care. Every family will have different views on what is acceptable care, but in my mom’s case, she is in MUCH better shape here than she was on her own. A handful of things need improvement but overall I think the team here does the best with what they have."
"My grandma spent some time there before her passing. Let me tell you I was so pleased from nursing, office staff and dietary staff. Very pleasant people and took care of my Grandma as if she was their own Grandma. Thank you all for your love and care"
"When my brother fell ill in Saint Petersburg Fl., his prognoses was long time care, a skilled care nursing facility for the foreseeable future. I wanted him close to his family here in SW Florida. Through the interview and transfer process Winkler Court intake admissions staff was exemplary in keeping my family informed as to his status, as well as transportation to be provided. He has been at Winkler Court for (15) months, in that time physical therapy has been made available to him twice, remarkable improvement in motor skills and strength, whenever a small issue has cropped up, falling etc. the staff has kept me informed and provided resolutions to any contributing factors (i.e. Mattress) he is content at Winkler Court, he is engaged and makes friends, some of whom are now my friends. The entire staff at Winkler Court show their concern and care for their charges, not just on the medical level, on the spiritual level as well, providing their charges with dignity and compassion, regardless of the circumstance. I would like to thank all the staff at Winkler Court for the care, concern and friendship they have provided for my brother, Stevie, Ms. Laverne, Ms. Melissa, Nate, Ms. Sally for always taking the time to listen, Ms. Marlene for keeping him on the straight and narrow Regards"
"My father spent several months there. For the most part, all the nurses and therapists were very good, kind and compassionate. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for their CNAs. Tracy, especially, doesn't belong in the business and they know it, yet they keep her. Very rough and very mean to my sweet Dad. We pulled him out. If you're putting a loved one in Winkler, make sure you're there every day to make sure the CNAs are treating them with respect and dignity . Big Tracy, is more suitable to be a prison guard."
