Reviews of Davenport, Dr. Christopher V
"Last August I was suffering from severe anxiety. Not knowing where to begin to find help, I called the local hospital but they could not give me an appointment until January. I searched the Internet and after reading several reviews, I called Dr. Davenport. He was able to see me the next week. It’s been over a year, and I am grateful to have found Dr. Davenport. Consulting him was the best think I could do for myself. I found him to be extremely knowledgeable and up-to-date on changes to treatment of a previously diagnosed condition. Dr. Davenport suggested several courses of action, the pros and cons of each option, and recommended what he thought would be best for me. I began to notice a huge improvement in just a few weeks. Dr. Davenport is an excellent listener and I trust him implicitly. I finally feel like myself again and now see him every few months to make sure my life continues to stay on the right track. I highly recommend Dr. Davenport to anyone who is in need of assistance creating a good balance in their emotional health."
"I wish I could give two ratings. As a psychiatrist, five stars - probably 10. His extensive knowledge of the nuances of conditions he treats and his prompt return of phone calls and the thoroughness of his work is honestly beyond compare. I’ve never found any psychiatrist as good in those areas. Before I had to switch to a new one because of insurance changes, I saw Davenport for 15 years. However, from the perspective of a former patient - he gets a zero for transparency, openness, and respect of patient rights and needs beyond his specific care. Upon requesting my medical records, he refused to provide me more than an incomplete (inaccurate) summary of care rather than my complete medical records. There is a statute which gives him that choice, but it is a choice. He could provide them to me directly if he wanted to. There really isn’t any reason that he shouldn’t. To advocate for oneself, one must have accurate and complete records. He is denying me that and that is upsetting to say the least. So my advice: if you are newly diagnosed, are needing an initial evaluation, or have a complex history with meds, he’s the one. He knows his stuff. And he keeps up with research constantly. He is very responsive and understands the urgency of communication requests. But keep your own thorough records!!! Of all dates, meds, dosages, and reactions. Because you will NOT get it from him if you need it in the future. And your new psychiatrist that he is willing to forward records to - whoever that may be - will almost surely not be as knowledgeable or thorough. If you want to advocate for yourself in the future, you will only be equipped with the records you keep. Don’t count on him for that."
"Dr. Davenport is excellent. He has worked with me on new medications for my chronic depression where other doctors kept me on the same pharmaceutical class of drugs. He supports FMLA and shows a high concern for his patients. I am so glad I switched my therapy over to him. Can't say enough positive things about him."
"Dr. Davenport is a very friendly, personable psychiatrist with a great bedside manner. He is very easy to talk to. Not all psychiatrists are that way. The thing I like about him most though is that he listens to what I have to say and he is open to alternative treatments, as long as they are medically sound. After all, you cannot expect any doctor to agree to a treatment plan that he or she feels would either cause harm to the patient or that would fail to treat the problem. He offers logical options and allows me to choose the course of action that I feel is most reasonable. All that being said, I have read some other reviews on Dr. Davenport that I think were unfairly negative. He definitely does listen to whatever concerns his patients may have and there isn't an arrogant bone in his body. If he suggests a certain treatment plan, it's because he honestly feels like it will be of the greatest benefit to the patient. Medicine is not an exact science, especially psychiatry, and no doctor gets is right 100 percent of the time. Sometimes psychiatry is a trial and error sort of thing. What works for one patient does not work for another. That's why there are a variety of meds available for the same problem. If Dr. Davenport does get it wrong, he is quick to change course. In the end though, patients always have the right to refuse any treatment plan and if the doctor and the patient cannot agree on the best course of action, then of course it's time to change doctors. I have not run into this problem with Dr. Davenport. I have found him to be very reasonable and open to patient input and always agreeable to try any approach that he feels will not be of harm to the patient. What more can you ask of any doctor? Keep in mind... Not only must the doctor be reasonable, the patient needs to do the same. All medicine should be a collaborative effort between the doctor and the patient. This describes Dr. Davenport perfectly. The bottom line is that Dr. Davenport is a good man and a very qualified and competent psychiatrist. He has my full support and recommendation."
"My first visit with Dr Davenport was excellent. I have seen many Dr she and have not continued for different reasons. I felt Dr Davenport really listen and together we are going to find a treatment that works. After many years of struggling with this I have found someone that will work with me not a Dr that is ....I'm the Dr I know what's best. Thank you Dr Davenport."
