Reviews of Dr. Ana Moros-Hanley, M.D., FAAP
"Short review: discrimination Long review/story: A nice mom revered us to this doctor. I called for the first time and made two appointments (a sick and well check up), during the call they provided confusing and not clear information about the insurance, also they did not ask any question about basic info (phone number or address) and no questions about vaccines (another mistake). Visit the office as a new patient and nobody provided me documents to complete (weird). After answering questions to the nurse at the end she ask me for the vaccine history and documentation. I told her we have the exemption documentation of vaccines from the Dept of Health of FL. She open her eyes like she was seeing an alien and told me "we don't accept patients without vaccines". I told her in a very nice way that nobody told me that by phone and that it was very late in the afternoon to get another sick appointment. The other health care profesional came in and ask a questions and then ask for the vaccines (looks like the nurse did not provide her the information). I told her that I explained the nurse about it and we have the vaccine exception documentation. She told me the office policy is that all kids need to have vaccines and that in some occasion the pediatrician (Dr.A.Moros) accepts it but she never asked me why I have that document and our reasons. I explained that it was not my error that nobody from the office provided that information by phone when I called to make an app as a new patient and that my document is legal and also explain it was late for another sick appointment. She told me I am sorry I will see you today and if it was for me i was ok with this but is not my offcine and because is late i will see you today but I have to ask Dr. Moros to see if she will accept your child as a patient. After the appointment she send the prescription to the pharmacy (later on I had to call the clinic because the prescription was never send because they did not ask for my address and phone and they never check that the prescription process was not completed by computer; so thank God I called the pharmacy to check with them about the prescription if not not my child was almost going to be the whole night until next day without antibiotics because of this mistake). I made all the calls quickly because it was almost 5pm (closing hour). After leaving the office and without nobody letting me explain the reason we have that documentation I received a call just 8 minutes later that the well check up was canceled and I was not longer welcome in the office not even with the vaccines documentation. I asked why, they told me is the doctors policy and she decides what policy she wants in her office. You can imagine how amazing was this firts appointment ! Of course ! Its incredible how some people discriminate (this is one of many ways to discriminate), but its almost more incredible that they have a close mind and didn't even provide the opportunity to explain the reasons. Even if our reasons are religious or medical or person is still an important reason. At the end I have never had this issue with other pediatricians ( in FL or other states). Every parent should have the right to decide why or why not I put in their child's body. Is not ilegal to not have some or none vaccines. Probably if I had HIV I was going to be discriminated too, probably if I did not had any vaccines as a parent I was going to be discriminated... probably if I was black or Hispanic it was going to be the same problem. Policy is a nice way to substitute the discrimination word. This is really not about vaccines is really about rights, discrimination, many errors at the same time and zero respect. Hope this review will be helpful to other parents."
