Reviews of Mini Varghese MD
"Upon checking in, I asked the receptionist if my fee for the day as a cash patient ($450) was all inclusive. She said yes and that anything performed on that day was covered with my fee. Several weeks later I received e a bill from Quest diagnosis for $120 or so for lab tests. Had I been informed of this impending fee, I would not have a problem. This office has failed to address this issue after several phone calls, multiple emails and a promised phone call from the billing manager...nothing, no phone call and not resolved. I will pay the bill myself, but poor communicators. I have owned businesses for many years and if WE mess up, the customer is taken care of."
"I totally agree with Reggie T's review from three weeks ago because I experienced the same behavior from this doctor. This doctor has an appalling bedside manner. When entering the exam room, she already had an agenda and was not open to listening or taking into consideration my insights regarding my own body. No, she was there as the EXPERT and was dismissive of any comments that I made. She was very condescending, defensive, interrupted almost everything I tried to say, and rushed the visit. In fact, she abruptly got up after a few minutes and walked towards the door. I was dumbfounded and said, "Are you leaving?" She stood at the door with her hand on the doorknob and talked a bit longer but looking down at me from my left side. She did not bother to back up and face me directly or to sit back down. So I had to crane my neck and look up to her to make eye contact. I made the appointment because I felt sure that I had a UTI (bladder infection). Since I have a long history with this problem, I am able to recognize the symptoms easily. Well, almost the first thing out of her mouth was, "I'm not a UTI doctor - I am a surgeon." She repeated this with pride several times throughout the short office visit. A couple of times she even said that I should just go to an urgent care facility when I suspect the problem. This woman is also very argumentative. She literally argued with me with regard to taking medication for urinary incontinence. This is a condition which I have had for thirty years, but I told her that since I am no longer working that I don't take the medication unless I am travelling or going to be outside my house for an extended time period. Well, she acted incredulous and asked if I wet myself. She couldn't understand why I don't take bladder control medication. I tried to explain to her that I don't like to take medication unless it is totally necessary, and asked why should I take it when I can easily go to the bathroom whenever necessary when I am sitting in my own home. I also informed her that a physician that I trusted completely had advised me in the past not to take the medication because it can cause Parkinson's-like symptoms. Amazingly, Varghese admitted that cognitive decline has been reported from taking the medication, but then said, "....but I've never observed it." This comment is ludicrous because it assumes that she tests her patients' cognitive abilities. I also said that from my own experience, I felt that taking the medication might contribute to getting bladder infections. At this juncture, she became very nasty and completely dismissed my idea, acting as though this was impossible. She couldn't let it go and kept insisting that I take medication. However, it soon became apparent why she was pushing incontinence medication - it was because she (and presumably the ZUrology practice) is pushing a newer incontinence medication which retails for around $500 for a month's supply. (Unfortunately, doctors are now drug dealers for the pharmaceutical industrial complex, as we have seen during the Oxycontin opiod crisis, and for a few perks they agree to encourage patients to take medications.) She tried to "sell" me on taking the medication. Well, guess what - when I got home and researched the side effects, one side effect states, "URINARY TRACT INFECTION." So her hypocrisy and disdain regarding my comment above was revealed to be ironic As other patients have commented, the wait in this office is long. I experienced a lengthy wait in the reception and in the exam room. Medicare was billed for a New Patient Visit (Code 99204), 45-59 minutes for a total of $856.00. Varghese did not spend 45 minutes with me. I will speak to Medicare regarding this. In spite of the mostly negative experience at this appointment, I don't think Varghese is a bad person. But, she definitely needs to work on her bedside manner, her arrogance, and patience. She also needs to learn how to actively listen to her patients. Review of '2' because front office staff are mostly polite."
"Not a good listener total disaster from the minute she walked into the room. No eye contact then went on to explain to me how she is not a back doctor when I tried to describe how I had pain in the kidney area in the lower back. She failed to inform me of the need to have an empty bladder for a sonogram the Technician had to apologize for the doctors failure. I had to ask for tissue to clean up after a rectal exam. I felt as though I was being talked down too the entire time."
"Coral Springs office, very clean, staff professional, Dr. Varghese has Great bedside manner, says what needs to be said good or bad, giving the best options. She is very knowledgeable with respect and understanding. Her staff is also just as professional. Being a Nurse myself, I would recommend her."
"An excellent urologist, very special treatment and if in need of an understanding physician, stop here and make your appointment with Dr,. Varghese. This physician is extremely busy, but if you can avail yourself of her services. you can be sure you are getting the very best in south florida."
