Lakewood Ranch OB/GYN : Dr. Jennifer L Swanson MD 8340 Lakewood Ranch Boulevard, Bradenton, FL 34202

"I am a patient at this office and recently got pregnant and found out 1/24. They originally made my first visit 2 weeks out on 2/15. I started spotting for over a week and still have not had my first scan or screening so I called the office to let them know I was bleeding so they moved me up to 5 days later on 2/7. Over the weekend I went to ER for heavier bleeding 2/4. I left a message to Dr Swanson on the portal letting them know about my ER visit and today the nurse of Dr. Swanson called because they wanted to see me earlier due to the heavier bleeding and ER visit. After collecting my information and trying to schedule me earlier, they called me back later to tell me they could not accept me as an OB patient since I am considered high risk and they use a mid wife to deliver. I understand that, but I don’t understand why they couldn’t still keep my appointment and at least screen me until I did establish with a new Ob, since I’m still early in pregnancy and having a medical issue. You would think they would at least let me come in and check me out knowing I was having an issue rather than putting me in a worse position than I was before with now no OB to give me an ultrasound or the necessary blood work or testing needed. Nope they completely canceled my appointments and wished me luck… so now I had to find another OB that would accept me as a new patient in such short notice and see me in hopefully the next 2 days… this felt very uncaring to me for an OB office to just leave a patient stranded like that. Luckily I found an office called university obgyn that took me serious and went out of their way to get me accept as a new patient all within an hour. They even accommodated their schedule to get me in to see the OB tomorrow and I’m so grateful to have found another office that cares about my well being."

"I don't get the bad reviews. All the staff treated well, DR Alvarez was professional and very knowledgeable. I've been with female doctors for years long and let me tell you that I felt better with DR Alvarez, I felt more comfortable and understood. With female doctors in the past, I felt challenged. Overall, my first visit for pap and IUD removal was 10/10. Now I'm getting a sonogram/ultrasound next week, and DR Alvarez gave me options for what I can choose to do next. I feel happy I found a good doctor! Scheduling was easy, I found an appointment fast. Paperwork was easy, they answer the phone fast. Insurance was easy, communication was easy, everyone is friendly there. You don't have to pay parking, and there's plenty of parking in front of the building. Honestly, I don't get the bad reviews."
