"My daughter has had an encouraging experience playing soccer at Orlando City Soccer School at the under 6 level. The key was having multiple parent coaches on her team that were able to give the team the attention they needed. She went from not really wanting to play anymore to being super excited each time practice came when she saw herself getting better and becoming more competitive."
"Refs getting intimidated by the Orlando City 2012 girls team coach for an offside call which completely stops the game is pure lack of sportsmanship and respect. Then the refs would not call offsides for the Orlando City girls team for the rest of the game was obvious and his yelling was non stop the whole game! Bad patchy fields and old run down restrooms is just plain disappointing."
"Never in my life would I expect a professional soccer league to represent a team that allows a coach of young players influence refs by intimidation. A coach that clearly attempted to use the inappropriate size field and then make it seem like he was doing the other team a favor. Refs who wouldn’t call anything after orlando city went off on them for a correct call against them. A player who argues with the ref for a foul saying the coach said this was allowed. Refs allowing subs to stop the flow of the game on purpose. Clearly not calling intentional fouls with no intent to play the ball. This left a very poor taste for a club that should represent the city and encourage clean positive healthy play. I would have expected a very high standard of professionalism from the club that was clearly not present."
"The fields are nice and easy to find. As per most kids soccer events the parking as abhorrent."
"Unfortunately we are very underwhelmed with this club, especially compared to another club in the area we were with previously. We chose to sign up with Orlando City at Red Bug because they are a little closer to our house and we felt that the name meant they were organized and professional, but we will not be coming back after this season. First, we were very disappointed that the "games" are really just a scrimmage among the team, which is a huge disservice to the kids. I feel that this does not encourage camaraderie or team spirit. The kids are also not encouraged to play at their highest level because there is no feeling of competitiveness. They should disclose this on their information page right off the bat - it is like going to two practices each week. Secondly, I have heard really bad attitudes among the kids that are not addressed at all. Many of the players have blamed their teammates for messing up, rather than encouraging each-other and acting like a team. Not just one-off instances, I've heard it at every practice and "game" and there is absolutely no correction given. Obviously these are little kids that are just learning and part of sports is learning sportsmanship and grace - OCYS can improve here. Finally, I don't see the kids learning any fundamentals in skill or strategy. Again, I understand that these are little kids, but there could be some instruction in just very basic strategy/field position, or even just fundamental skills. There is nothing horrible happening here, but we will be switching back to the league we were with prior."
