Reviews of Lake Park Smiles - Pediatric Dentist In Fort Myers
"*BEWARE! LONG, BUT MUST READ* I was unfortunately very disappointed in this dentist office from the start. I'm not sure why these pediatric dentist offices are not very welcoming for kids. There were 2 tvs, but only 1 single toy for my 3 year old to play with. There's also a sign that listed about 13 "NO"s to include no yelling, no loud electronics, no being ontop of furniture, etc. I totally get being a professional establishment, and no I'm not going to let my kid run around like a monkey, but he is still 3 so it made us feel a bit uncomfortable from the start. We were there for x-rays and a 2nd opinion on his teeth. I already forewarned the staff that he is not the greatest at the dentist. To my surprise, he did well with the x-rays. Dr. Favalli came in and introduced himself. I told him we would do what we needed to, but the last thing I wanted was to pull all 4 of his front teeth and put him under via IV. Mind you, this is a very scary situation for a mama & I really needed some comfort during this time. He told me that any kind of work being done to a 3 year old really requires being under IV sedation. Because of the age, they truly just don't understand what's going on and wouldn't allow the work to be done. Totally understandable, but he continues and says, "one punch or kick from a kid and they're out of here!" That's a bit extreme coming from a pediatric dentist. He then continues to talk about the anesthesiologist. He said they're board certified and haven't lost a kid yet KNOCK ON WOOD, then knocked on the wall, and laughed. From a mom who just expressed how scared she was of the procedure, this is not in any way, shape or form comforting! This was definitely not a thought of mine, but it was now. Next we looked at the x-rays. He said it looks like we will be able to do crowns on the front 4 teeth. This got me very excited, because this is the first I've heard of the possibility of crowns and not pulling. Just to assure I heard him correctly, I asked, "You said crowns?" And he said "Yes. Crowns on the front 4." Fast forward to him actually seeing his teeth. Now he says, "My expert opinion is to pull all 4." I knew this was more than likely going to be the outcome, but it was the fact he was so certain he could crown them before even looking at his teeth. Even if he prefaced with, "we won't know until I actually get in there and look", etc. instead, I thought he could tell crowns 100% from the x-ray, but no, just getting my hopes up for nothing. We first attempted my son in the chair by himself to which he did well, until the light was shining in his face. The dentist was clearly getting agitated while myself & the 2 assistants were trying to make my son feel comfortable. He even snapped at us and said "Guys! I need my light to see!" This is when we put him on my lap. At this point, he was over the visit and got upset when the doctor was trying to see his teeth. (Again, he's 3!) Expressing my concern and clearly distraught about the whole situation, I asked, "how did his teeth get so bad?!" He said it was from you breastfeeding. This was something I have been told before and mentioned it to him at some point during the visit. He then aggressively said, AND YOU PROBABLY BREASTFED LONGER THAN YOU HAD TO, RIGHT? I really should have walked out then. Once the exam was over I asked if I could bring my son to the bathroom, to which he said yes, but to return to the room after. When I got back in the room, we were the only ones there. The area where the dentist and assistants meet was right outside our room so I could hear conversations. I could tell the dentist and the 2 assistants were talking about us, but it was confirmed when the dentist himself laughed and said GOOD LUCK as the assistant was headed back our way. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. I would never let him touch my kids teeth again awake. And I would NEVER in a million years trust him with my kid under anesthesia. I HIGHLY DON'T recommend."
"$820 for cleaning, exam, fluoride, and X-rays for 2 kids. This is about 2-3x more than insurance payments. We only went for a cleaning but they added these services without notification and we just kind of went with it. We were not made aware of the cost of these extra treatments until checkout. When we tried to negotiate the bill down to more reasonable fees (even higher than insurance rates and including treatment we didn’t request) they told us it isn’t a car dealership and that we should buy insurance. The general attitude was not customer friendly. All healthcare providers are required to provide Good Faith Estimates to their patients per the federal No Surprises Act. We never received this prior to treatment. When confronted about this the office manager had the nerve to tell me this didn’t apply to them. News flash…it does! They most definitely gave us a surprise at checkout. I really didn’t want to leave this review, but once the office manager told me it wasn’t a car dealership I couldn’t help myself. I strongly recommend using a different dental office, especially if you don’t have dental insurance and value customer service."
"We always have a great experience! Dr. Favalli and Staff always makes my son feel at ease during his cleanings and checkups! Everyone is very helpful and kind."
"I am so incredibly impressed by this office! From start to finish, the process was smooth, informative, and they made sure I knew all the options available and answered all of my questions. My son has a heart condition that needed to be cleared prior to dental work and I can’t begin to express how grateful I was for Dr Chelsea and Dr Favalli for going above and beyond to take every precaution and make sure my son was getting the proper treatment. They were not once just about making a dollar but rather only concerned with his safety and well being. The procedure went quickly and smoothly and my son felt so relaxed in their care! Also want to shout out Nicole for making him feel so comfortable! The whole team at Lakes park was nothing short of professional and kind and we will continue to use them in the future!"
"My children have been patients here since elementary school and we have never had a single bad experience. That's saying something one has already graduated high school and the other is about to. Amazing care, everytime!"
