"I feel like i was robbed. $348. The doctor was there no more than 4 minutes. No diagnose. Come back in 2 weeks, and *ATENTION* he told me to take IBUPROFEN for the pain. Never coming back again."

"No respect for their patients time. Called me at 616p the day before my appointment to tell me the Doctor not available. This after i rearranged my work schedule. The time options offered were for times I have to work. This last minute cancellation cost me time and money. Awful."
"I called Dr. Nieder (who I believe head's up Mount Sinai Urology) this a.m from Baptist Hospital w/ Kidney Stones. Nieder told me to come to Mount Sinai thru the ER Department because he could do a stent surgery today (he had offered this procedure 3 wks earlier but I declined because my stones are small & I was travelling). He assured me his urology team (or himself) would provide the stent surgery TODAY & repeatedly re-emphasized to get there asap, knowing I was at another hospital. I arrived at Mount Sinai by 10 am & about 4 hours later Nieder ordered a new ultrasound (despite having a cat scan done less than 24 hours earlier). I repeatedly questioned why ultrasound when I just had a cat scan & was 1st told he wanted to see “the jets”. But, the ultrasound tech said it wasn’t possible to ultrasound “jets” because I wasn't allowed to drink or eat while waiting for surgery. And, we know from experience 2 weeks earlier that ultrasound does not show my stones (in the ureter tubes) but the cat scans do - so why order another useless ultrasound? Then Nieder showed up and told me he wasn’t sure I’d be seen for the surgery that he said he (or his team) would provide that day at all! I had left another hospital for this so I was shocked – and told him so. So Neider said to continue to not eat or drink anything & wait, but when I returned to the ER – the ER told me they had ADMITTED me to the Hospital (without my knowledge, consent or a surgery appointment!). I told the ER I wouldn’t accept hospital admittance unless I was having surgery that day! But, the ER didn’t want me to wait any longer while trying to pressure to admit me & even threatened that I’d be leaving AMA (against medical advice) if I didn’t accept their admittance. I walked over to Nieder’s office from the ER, and sat with Nieder’s staff (Rachelle & Rocia) for over 30 minutes, and after telling me they had no way to schedule the surgery, they then did another 180 and confirmed that I was scheduled for surgery at 7:15 pm with a Dr. Legarsky (sp?). While at Neirder's office, I asked Dr. Nieder’s partner if he could the surgery today, and he said he would be happy to do it, and “don’t worry 1 of us will take care of you today”. Rachelle showed me my surgery appointment on her computer screen & at my request, called and confirmed my 7:15 pm procedure. So, I went to the hospital for admittance and reconfirmed with my nurse that I was not to be admitted without surgery that day. I was clear WITH EVERYBODY that I did not feel I met the criteria to be hospitalized without surgery in spite of everyone’s insistence. My nurse confirmed that my surgery had been moved up to 7:13 pm with Nieder. Then, they tried to put me on some type of abnormal gadget heart monitor (above and beyond the regular hospital heart monitor/blood pressure machines)! I responded that I felt a lot of unnecessary medical procedures and expenses were being ordered for what seemed like a routine outpatient procedure, and I did not feel comfortable accepting any medical treatment that was not 100% necessary for my ureteral stent procedure – to which she responded my surgery has been rescheduled for another day! So in conclusion – I feel like I was led to Mount Sinai hospital and Dr. Nieder’s care under false pretenses by Nieder, and much of Nieder’s support staff and colleagues. I feel like I was used as some part of enormous insurance scam to trump up unnecessary charges and bills – because after Nieder cancelled my surgery appointment tonight – he then ordered ANOTHER/a 3rd cat scan even though I had just had one less than 24 hours earlier, plus I had another cat scan from 3 weeks earlier (apparently both scans were pretty much identical according to his colleague too!) – plus 2 ultrasounds in the past 2 weeks were all provided to Nieder! Nieder wanted a 3rd imaging test in less than 24 hours and a 5th imaging test within a 3 week period despite having no pain to suggest the stones had moved in the past 24 hours. Just awful experience! And BTW, Mount Sinai Patient Experience Staff is equally bad!"
