Reviews of NSU Audiology Clinic
"Kind knowledgeable staff, definitely recommend for your loved ones medical needs."
"I had two visits at this location and the location is in a nice area. The front desk was nice, including the students. My particular issue was with the attending physician who wasn’t present for the majority of the examinations or a test. This physician showed the most abhorrent bedside manner I have ever witnessed. I’ve worked beside many doctors & my own father is a doctor and I can say it was pretty much horrendous. Firstly, because of a prior diagnosis that I have which this doctor admittedly has never witnessed treated or examined, she seemingly like doctors 50 years before her time believe that it was psychosomatic so her first assessment was for me to see a psychologist for my very real symptoms. As soon as she mentioned that I wondered why, and mention the fact that my own father is a psychiatrist which seemed to have stumped her unfounded assumptions. She also seemed quite frustrated at the fact that I came in as an educated patient with educated questions that she seem to not be able to answer, maybe because it was out of her scope. After I was given her plan/assessment, I had more questions & then she left the room to get me referrals to a neurologist, which should’ve been her first assessment/plan. Due to her leaving the room to get this information made me blaringly aware of the fact that she had no intention on referring me to begin with. After she gave me the referrals. I then questioned why if I am here for a problem with my ears, why haven’t I had my actual ears physically examined during this appointment? Which caused her to begrudgingly tell one of the students to then examine my ears, and then she said, “I assumed nothing was wrong/irregular with them.” Which is interesting because the last time I checked in the medical field assumptions aren’t supposed to be made observations are. You’d think with a school that needs patients specifically to assist the students with learning that the doctor would treat patients with more respect. Even during my assessment, when I explained, I don’t prefer to go to a lot of doctors due to my white coat syndrome the doctor interrupted me only to point out the fact that she too has white coat syndrome. I didn’t know that my chair time was supposed to be used for her complaints/diagnosiss as well which she only did to minimize my issue. This is why POC specifically WOC do not seek help in the medical field is because of doctors such as this who don’t listen to your complaints who assume that you are exaggerating even though in office, you’re not showing any signs of agitation, frustration or irritation. The most jarring fact is this Doctor is supposed to be teaching a new generation of doctors. So this is a warning, particularly to those who have faced implicit medical bias or negligence in the medical field to be forewarned. If you have good insurance go to a doctor who will care and is invested in your health and who treats w/ respect and empathy. To any students in this program please learn what not to do as well, also remember many times those who teach it’s bc they lacked the skills to practice or non compete contracts. Added 10/15/2023 Thankfully I have Drs who listen to my complaints because the root cause of all my symptoms and diagnosis has been discovered! Uric acid was to root cause. It was due to my own persistence research and requesting specific tests in my bloodwork. I’m thankful to my dad, my PCP, and OBGYN for assisting in my medical care. They were able to detect something out of their specialty, which an ENT should’ve made the connection between gout/uric acid kidney-stones/fibromyalgia/vertigo have a direct effect on hearing loss and diagnosis such as BPPV and Ménière disease. My persistence was evidence that it wasn’t a Psychiatrist I needed to see a good but a doctor who listened to complaints to deduce a correct plan of action."
"Good experience, great attention to my son.Everyone was very polite and they handled him with care. They do have free valet service."
"Staff is very friendly. I did not wait long in waiting room. Was not crowded (me and daughter was only one). Making an appointment was very easy. The location was very easy to find with valet service."
"Great doctor and wonderful respectful students. However, Kaitlyn is rude, unprofessional and disrespectful. She doesn’t have the skills for patient care especially with being the first point of contact. I am still waiting on a call from a supervisor which hasn’t happened yet. She needs to be retrained on how to speak to patients with respect especially when the ball was dropped on the office end. As a practice manager I was so disgusted that a staff member in the medical field treat patients in such manner. Patient care should be our priority and that is not hers clearly."
