The Institute for Sport & Social Justice, located at 4000 Central Florida Boulevard in Orlando, Florida, is a leading organization dedicated to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in the world of sports. Dr. Ashleigh Huffman, the Vice President for Global Engagement, recently welcomed tennis legend Billie Jean King as a panelist at the Equality Summit during the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup in Sydney, Australia. This summit brought together experts and thought leaders to discuss solutions for equity and inclusion in women's football.
In preparation for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Institute hosted a Sport for Social Change exchange with sports administrators from France, focusing on the mental and physical health of athletes. During Super Bowl LVIII weekend in Las Vegas, the Institute hosted a panel discussion on diversity in coaching roles in professional sports.
Led by Dr. Shannon Spriggs-Murdoch, the Institute's Huddle Up team provides dynamic training sessions on topics such as gender-based violence, DEIB, and leadership development for athletes and organizations. The Institute also conducts research, culture assessments, and human capital benchmarking to address social challenges in the sports world.
Through education, exchanges, and events, the Institute collaborates with sports organizations and governments to promote mutual understanding and justice-focused solutions in sport. The Institute also works with youth programs to empower the next generation of leaders and create positive change in communities.
