"Been coming here going on 5 years all the staff is excellent in both chemo and radiation stations sometimes a little bit of a wait but I understand I'm not the only one there getting treatment"
"OMG dr. Denny Vance Jones head professor of oncology at UF and director of oncology at Malcolm Randall VA is one of the most amazing people I've ever met. He saved my life and limited greatly the pain and suffering I was going through. He is warm, kind, friendly and you don't look at him like a doctor look at him as someone warm and beautiful. If you need an ecologist for any reason please at least get a second opinion with him I know I did and they saved my life!"
"I do not know what the chemo side is like because I was treated with radiation. My.personal experience has been nothing but positive. My doctor is wonderful. She is knowledgable, caring and honest with me. All of the support staff are professional, prompt and understanding. The radiation team is second to none! Each time I went for radiation they were completely capable, concerned about my needs and always upbeat and positive. My husband was recently diagnosed with possible nodules on his lungs. Because of the way I was treated he has asked to be referred to my doctor and the team at Davis."
"I am at a loss for words about this place. They are treating pts with cancer diagnoses already so they should naturally have some compassion. Every appointment made for us, I mean EVERY one, was made after we called the doctors office asking about the appointment, when we could come, etc. The doctor does not call on time to give you lab results, you have to call them to find out what they were. Today, one doctor told me that he could not treat me if I continued to be "nasty." He said this after I called the office for lab results that they were supposed to call me about last week!! Unbelievable and, the saddest part, is that there is no shortage of cancer pts who need chemo so demand is high, while care, concern, and pt focus are at an all time low at this place. Dangerous combination. It leaves you to try and figure out other options when you are already stressed about the cancer diagnosis and lack of ethical treatment here at this place. What about the pts that cannot speak up for themselves for various reasons. Once, the doctor said I was fine to go ahead with chemo but a nurse came running out to get me before they hooked me up to tell me that the doctor had looked at the previous lab level, not the most current one that was too high to allow another dose of chemo. ummmmm, thank God for nurses. The impression I get overall is that staff are stressed to the max due to workload, this creates a high turnover of staff, which then creates chaos, which then leads to poor treatment and follow up. I doubt anyone from this location will even read this post or care but maybe, hopefully, I can save another poor cancer patient some trouble and unnecessary stress."
"Being that people come here for chemotherapy and radiation treatments I feel that there should be more compassion and also care about the patients needs. Radiation side is excellent, they take you back on time and your finished in a timely matter. However, it's a completely different story for the chemotherapy part. The nurses are walking around like they have no job while you're sitting there for HOURS waiting on chemotherapy to even start, this is ridiculous and it make the patients feel as if their lives does not matter to them. Having cancer is already stressful, I don't want to drive hours each day to my appointments and add more stress to that. HORRIBLE SERVICE on the chemotherapy side."
