"Okay, the wait time is a bit much even when you have an appointment. The nurse was absolutely fabulous, really making me feel like I was talking to a friend. She was also very thorough. My assigned primary care physician Mark Steenbergen is incredible. I actually look forward to going here for my medical needs, which are few."

"First, the 1 star is simply because there is no option to provide a 0 star. My VA experience started in Little Rock (AR), then to locations in Indianapolis (IN), Cincinnati (OH), West Palm Beach (FL), Pompano (FL), and Miami (FL). Of those 6 locations, I would give each an OUTSTANDING rating and would happily entrust my health care needs to each without hesitation. Sadly the Port Charlotte location has me considering a 3 hour drive each way to go back to the Miami/Pompano area for simple doctor visits. Port Charlotte I changed to in June, was given an October first appointment. First thing I was told they could not prescribe me my meds until I'd been seen. Changed my address and my meds from Miami did not arrive and couldn't get them until they'd been returned. So, now that I'm out of meds it's coming up to October and I've been rescheduled for (get this) January. Once my meds run out I'm 6 MONTHS without and I'm told to "Just go to the ER". Get appointment with my PCP that turns out to be a Nurse Practitioner that from the start seems put off that I'm taking her valuable time. She will not look at my Miami medical records as "It would take too much time" and seeing as I didn't bring in my prescription with doses and couldn't remember the exact info she spent as little time (maybe 10 or so minutes) as possible with me to get my ENTIRE medical requirements. She informs me to "Call her nurse with my prescriptions with doses" and they'd fill them. Called and got a voice mail, emailed on MyHealthEVet with screenshot and two weeks later got a reply of "OK", two simple letters. Week later still nothing and I email back saying nothing has been prescribed to which the response was "I gave them to her and she's filled them". This is an outright lie and has destroyed any possible trust I could have even had with this facility. So, I've been without at this point SEVEN months of medication. My next appointment is JANUARY of 2018 and I've been lied to about prescriptions being filled. It's ok though, I'm in pain every single day, I have high blood pressure, and I'm faced with 6 hours worth of drive time to go to a different VA system that I know will address my concerns. I would NOT recommend the Port Charlotte Clinic to anyone what so ever. The area is beautiful, but if VA health care is vital, consider a different location. To any VA rep reading this, my info would take seconds to verify, please feel free to fix the situation as my PCP/NP obviously will not. Edit/Update: In just a day and half of this review, prescriptions have magically been put in. I cannot state for a fact that this review is the reason for the sudden change, but it is kind of strange."
