Reviews of HCA Florida Oak Hill Women's Health - 4003 Mariner Blvd
"Dr. Tabbaa was, by far, the most wonderful OBGYN I ever had! He helped my husband and I through two of the hardest chapters of our lives. Every step of the way, he was honest, informative, and most importantly, kind. The same can be said for the nursing and office staff. I wish I could give this office 10 stars!"
"After a horrible experience at a different OB, I went into my first appointment nervous and scared but everyone there is SO sweet. They great you by name and really make you feel welcomed. Dr. Tabbaa has been amazing answering any questions I have and explaining everything that is happening as well as telling me what to expect for my next appointment. One thing I really appreciate that he does is before even touching me he asks permission which makes me feel so safe. I HIGHLY recommend this office."
"I have been seeing their midwife Katie McDaniel since 2019. She has cared for me with all 3 of my pregnancies and helped deliver all 3 of my babies. Katie is the sweetest person I have every met. She is extremely proactive in your care! Meaning if she notices something is off even the smallest thing, she is on top of it giving you and your unborn baby the appropriate care needed. Her bedside manner is definitely the best I have ever experienced from a provider. I will only see her and have seen Cheryl another one of their midwives who is also amazing. Their staff has always been so helpful and kind. Definitely recommend their office if you are in search of a midwife!"
"Depending on who you’re with at the practice- this office overall was great for me. I transferred my care to this practice after I had been with another local OB. I was looking for a midwife to align with my birth wishes as I was around 32 weeks pregnant and had an uncomplicated pregnancy to this point, though I was being monitored by MFM and a cardiologist for an autoimmune disorder. I’m a healthy 30 year old, first time mom with no history of complications or miscarriage. Katie came highly recommended by my doula, and wow - I am so so grateful to have met her. I had multiple appointments with her and we clicked instantly, she was absolutely AMAZING. I can’t wait for my next pregnancy to be under her care completely. She made me feel comfortable, confident and educated as that’s all I had been trying to do for myself during pregnancy. I absolutely adore her. Though I didn’t get to birth with Katie, it was who Cheryl helped deliver my baby. She was also great, hands off during labor which is what I wanted. With not having met Cheryl before labor - I appreciated that she didn’t make me feel like I needed to micromanage everyone around me and ensure she was on the same page with me with my birth wishes. She understood what I wanted in an undisturbed physiological birth, and I was able to have just that. 6 days before birth, I went to the hospital as I was leaking fluid and didn’t feel well. I was swabbed for amniotic, which was negative, but my blood pressure was elevated and hadn’t been all pregnancy. The midwife on call was Jacarra - who I hadn’t met previously. The encounters with her as I was in the hospital room were very unnerving, she was much more abrasive with her delivery of information and made me feel unsettled and unsafe. I’m in the mental health field and knew right away she was not someone I’d feel safe with. I was having body reactions in her presence which were also alarming. Luckily my blood pressure normalized, and I decided to go home - even after Jacarra told me she wanted to induce me because of gestational hypertension and preeclampsia could develop. After I told her I’d be going home (after multiple normal BP readings over hours), she told me she had a patient who presented just as I did the day before, and came right back the next day as they developed preeclampsia. I didn’t appreciate this, it felt more like a scare tactic on my way out as I’m very educated in what to look for and how to take care of myself. I was told later on that she’s the only midwife in the practice who doesn’t see patients in office, and is only in the hospital - which I didn’t like at all. I personally strongly dislike and disagree with a provider not seeing patients in office and is only at the hospital, just with how sacred birth is and how special of a time it is for a mom. Every mom needs to feel safe with her provider. Jacarra does not fit the same vibe at all with the other midwives in the practice I met (Katie, Corie and Cheryl). If you’re looking for someone who is educated in and encourages physiologic birth, Cheryl, Katie and Corie are wonderful."
"Originally was scheduled for my anatomy scan last week of April right at 20 weeks. Was reschedule once’s to May 5 for no apparent reason. Then was rescheduled a second time to May 9th because “they’re repaving the parking lot” put on hold then was told the “ultrasound tech was out all that week” so conflicting stories on rescheduling. We went in today, had the ultrasound done, which went fine. We were seen on time. Then had a follow up with the doctor for 11 o’clock. We waited in the room to be seen for 45 minutes before I asked when we would be seen, was told we would be seen next. 20 minutes later a nurse walked in to asked if we’d been seen, I said no and that it’d been an hour. Then the doctor was running around trying to find the ultrasound results (you’d think those would’ve been reviewed in the last hour) just to come in and spend 2 minutes telling me everything looked fine see you in 4 weeks. Communication is the most important thing in an office. Running behind happens but to have no communication on it at all is where my disappointment lies."
