Reviews of Peter Blum Family YMCA of Boca Raton
"25 year member of the YMCA. The inability for members to use the basketball court to play basketball is astonishing . Whether it’s fitness classes, camps, or pickleball 4 days a week, the basketball court is never open during any reasonable times for the general member. The workout area is impossibly small given the number of training classes using the same space and the removed the outdoor workout area in favor of lawn furniture for people to sit on their phones next to the indoor pool. Really sad decline"
"During my daughter's first swim class, she was dropped completely underwater without support by a young and inexperienced teacher. Since that first evening (which started as a fun and exciting new experience, but immediately changed after she was dropped), it became very uncomfortable to force my daughter to take these classes. I saw an attempt to help her by the Aquatics Director, but this whole experience did the opposite of acclimating my daughter to the water. I wanted to share my experience with the program. I truly feel that if her first class had gone well, and she had had a more experienced teacher, we would have enjoyed our time at the Y. I also believe that she could have made some progress in her swimming abilities. Instead, she now no longer even wants to learn to swim with me in our pool at home. I shared my feelings to the Aquatics Director by email, and I never received a reply."
"Fees have been raised 3 times in the past year, yet service has only gone down. I have been a member since 2013 and have seen no improvements in that entire time. Constant broken equipment, place is not cleaned properly, children allowed to break the gym equipment. This morning it was unusually crowded and a personal trainer was sitting on equipment for over 30 minutes on her phone waiting for a client instead of allowing other members to use it. Update, a representative of the Y called me when they saw my review and discussed the issues with me. I was very impressed with their being open to constructive criticism and that they took the the complains seriously. Thank you to the Y team for trying to make it right."
"I’ve tried a lot of gyms in south Florida from Lifetime Fitness to YouFit at Town Center, and this YMCA has been the best value for me and my family. The gym is very clean compared to lower end gyms. I particularly like the sauna, steam room, and two pools for post workout recovery. The atmosphere is very inclusive and a great place for everyone to work out no matter their fitness level."
"Great facility with upgraded weight room. Cycling class with Stephanie Tuesday & Thursday nights are a MUST try! So much energy. All her motivational talk leaves me feeling rejuvenated! Really like egym as well!"
