"I attended Stewart's in 1992. It was a life changing time for me having just lost my job and starting a new career in jewelry manufacturing and repair. Stewart's gave me the skills and confidence to get started in the industry quickly and with the depth of skills I needed to start my own shop. They even touch wsy on the making profitable decisions and ways to be efficient in the shop. At the time, Jim's methods of teaching exactly align with the way I learn best. Hands on! The courses move fast but are deep enough to give you what you need to start. Being mechanically inclined helps. Over the last 30 years I have sent a few employees and reffered countless persons who have asked my opinion on how to get started. Stewarts is in Florida and I attended in January. Coming from Wisconsin that was an immediate positive! They have arrangements with local hotels that made a big difference in the rate. If you are thinking of Stewart's, go! It was a big deal in my career path I never regretted. If you have questions, look me up and give me a call. Sincerely, Jeff Forslund Lake Country Jewelers Ltd Pewaukee WI"
"The one week course for jewelery repair was great. It was very informative. It was fast paced because you learn all the fundamentals we the trade. Do I feel like I left the class a confident master jeweler? Absolutely not lol However, I do feel like I left the class with the basic skill set and knowledge to help me on my path. Just like everything in life practice makes perfect. Mr.Jim and his wife Ellie were great. Very welcoming and pleasant."
"Stewart International Jewelry School was an Amazing program. Jim Stewart teaches you 47 years of experience in three weeks. It is a fast pace program at an affordable price and worth every penny! I learned more then most people learn going to jewelry school full time. In this program I learned enough to be comfortable in jewelry repair or to design my own jewelry. I read a previous review where the student blamed the teacher for losing his job due to lack of experience. This course will by far give you the knowledge and the "correct" techniques, but as always it is up to the individual to gain the experience. I look forward to taking more courses, Jim Stewart is an awesome instructor and I have learned so much from his courses."
"Stewart's International is the very first jeweler's school I attended years back and I loved every minute. Jim Stewart is a fantastic teacher. Will you be a skilled jeweler after attending one of the 1 week courses? Absolutely not, however you will have the basic mechanics and knowledge to practice what you've been taught including some very useful shortcuts and tricks that Jim has learned through his decades of experience. Whether you're just starting out and want to get a taste for the trade, or you're already an active bench jeweler and want to learn some new tricks of the trade, I'd highly recommend this school."
"I went there in October and it was really informative and helped a lot. it is very fast paced but they provide you with a manual of what you'll be doing so it is easy enough to study ahead so that you know what will be happening the next day. I practiced a lot on scrap gold when I got back before working on customer items (since we worked on brass in the school). My boss (Jeweler) is thrilled with what I now know how to do and is sending me for course 2. As for the previous review you do not become “skilled” after a week. He teaches you how to do things correctly but it is up to you to practice what you are taught. Great School! I would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn this trade quickly and correctly."
