Dr. Joseph Shalit, MD

"How this "doctor" is even practicing and how he passed any sort of board is beyond me. Completely condescending in his attitude. His bedside manner is atrocious. He likes to go down the route that the patient is making stuff up and chalking everything to anxiety. His archaic approach to medicine is harmful to the patient and the patient's family members who may or may not be acting as full time caregivers. He never introduced himself and was not present for 80% of my procedure. Considering the procedure involved fluctuation of heart rate and blood pressure, he should have been present the entire time to monitor and be there in the event something happened. He also vaguely went over results that was neither informative nor helpful, and he did not convey it in a way a lay person could understand. He should be practicing in a morgue than an actual clinic as he is more likely to kill someone than to actually treat them. He needs reeducation in regard to how he should be practicing and needs his ego to be put in check. Avoid him like the plague if you actually want your issue addressed properly ESPECIALLY when it involves the cardiovascular system."

"I recently had doctor Shalit take care of me in the hospital and with a followup visit several days later at his office. Very professional, great bedside manner, great communication, very smart, and very skilled. When I first met him I felt I had known him from somewhere as he was just so cool. If you need a cardiologist I highly recommend him. He is a good man."

"I work for an insurance company and was absolutely appalled at the lack of telephone customer service from Mrs. Shalit and one of her office staff (a young woman). They were both very abrupt on the telephone and did not allow me to complete my sentences, rushing me off the telephone. They both essentially ended up hanging up on me two separate times which was uncalled for and I hope they don't treat Dr. Joseph Shalit's patient's this way when they have questions for the staff. The doctor may be great but as a customer/patient, I personally would not stay with a physician if his office staff made the simplest tasks so difficult to deal with. Good luck."

"I am a first-time patient of Dr. Shalit. He was extremely thorough (and has great bedside manner), careful to explain anything I did not understand, and answer my questions. I could tell how experienced he was right away. I don't think I've met any physician who made such an effort to really listen to me and build a patient-doctor relationship. All of my old doctors were happy to put me out the door in 15 minutes with a bill in my hand. Mrs. Shalit at the front desk helped me to schedule my appointment, call in my medications, and arrange some of my tests (and she never gets irritated when I call more than once to clarify something). She was so friendly and eager to make me feel comfortable! I love that this is a family practice, through and through. I would DEFINITELY recommend Dr. Shalit if you want a doctor who will truly personalize your care."
