Reviews of Gwinnett Institute - Orlando Campus
"Please don't be fooled by the FAKE reviews about this institution. Below I will include a few of the many reasons to go to ANY other school. 1. If you call to inquire, they will trick you to come in and then you will be sitting for an entry TEAs exam (even if you have not been in school for years) 2. They are 100% affiliated and have rebranded from being under the name MedTech to Gwinnett institute 3. They are understaffed and have a high turnover rate for instructors (I've even had an instructor leave mid term) 4. One instructor will more than likely teach several of your classes (even if they are unfamiliar with the subject) due to the student-teacher ratio 5. If you have a child(ren) and are a single parent or a single person with no support, DO NOT come here. The school schedule is NOT flexible and you will not have the availability needed for a full-time job. 6. Many schools do NOT accept Gwinnett's credits, regardless of what they tell you to get you to enroll. So if you intend on furthering your education, enroll in a program that allows you to bridge. 7. In order to graduate you have to pass each class with a 75% or above AND pass a summative exam known as the HESI (which you need a 800) that is completely separate from your class grade. For example if you pass the class with a 75% or above and fail the HESI exam (getting under a 800) you will be required to stay back and repeat the class. This information has been purposely withheld from many students to ensure enrollment and to bring in more money by having them pay for another semester if they fail. I'm well aware all nursing programs have their pros and cons but this institution has a plethora of cons that outweigh the less than handful of pros. Don't be discouraged by being waitlisted from other nursing schools, instead know that it means that their school is of a higher caliber and you will be prepared to be a nurse. As opposed to here, where I'm afraid there are going to be many issues resulting from unprepared and uneducated nurses graduating from Gwinnett going into the workforce."
"I am very happy with the experience I had today at Gwinnett Institute-Orlamdo Campus. I was greeted pleasantly by the receptionist. Then I met Ms Chelsea Brown, I spoke to her once or twice on the phone and to meet her in person was wonderful. Ms Brown has that motherly instinct, very caring, very professional, very helpful. Ms Brown deserves 100 stars. She is a keeper."
"Please be aware of the lack of national accreditation at Gwinnett Institute. As a RN with multiple years of work experience in a variety of areas in nursing, a compact state license, and BSN (obtained from a nationally accredited school), I was unable to obtain my RN license by endorsement in the state of Massachusetts because Gwinnett Institute does not have national or programmatic accreditation. This was not transparent or explained prior to my enrollment in 2018, and am now facing adversity due to the lack of transparency. Students should be well informed of this before making a huge commitment to a nursing program that will follow them throughout their careers. Thoroughly research your school/nursing program before enrolling. *update to the response received from Gwinnett institute (2/2/24) on my original review* You are claiming Gwinnett’s nursing program is approved, however it is not on the list of “approved nursing programs” per the FL department of health website ( https://mqa-internet.doh.state.fl.us/MQASearchServices/NursingPrograms ) and I have emails from the FL board of nursing as well as the Massachusetts board of nursing to confirm that, as that was the reason I was unable to receive my RN license in the state of Massachusetts. Unless I have been told incorrectly, which seems very unlikely, due to my correspondence with the director of education at the FL board of nursing. I spoke with the president of the Orlando campus, as well as with the DON and they were unable to assist me as Gwinnett’s nursing program is in fact “not approved”. I would absolutely love to have this clarified if I am incorrect as I spent a lot of time in attempting to obtain my RN license by reciprocity in MA. Otherwise, I believe it is important that students are fully aware and understand the challenges they may face in attempt to working in other states while already having a RN license from attending Gwinnett’s nursing program. There are also other students who face adversity at certain facilities within FL due to Gwinnett’s lack of programmatic accreditation."
"Chelsea Brown is the absolute best! She helped me by breaking every step down and explaining in detail what I needed to know. I feel so confident in going to start my first class now!"
