"I went to Palmetto shortly after it opened, from 1960-62. I got an outstanding education there, with courses based on the latest teaching models, like PSSC Physics and audio-lingual Spanish. I think Palmetto was a better school than the much-touted suburban Long Island school I transferred from. Kudos to the principal then (Clyde Crabtree), my chemistry teacher (Mr. Stormont), my Spanish teacher (Ms. Collins) and all the rest of the fine faculty."
"I graduated in 1974. The school was great! Chorus Class was The place to meet girls, but I was so shy that I missed out on a lot. Guys, you have to treat women with respect! Panthers Rule!!!"
"Class of 2014 here i should've written a review sooner but here goes. Freshman year i had a horrible math teacher who opened the textbook literally once and it messed up my learned i started all advanced classes but they weren't very good at teaching. When you go to the office some people really seem to havean attitude or not want to help. This school is still the school with the most drugs and it really affects the majority of students. Also the new reputation with the teachers having relationships with students. Some teachers are wonderful and unforgettable but others are terrible and make you wish you never had to go to school. The school has alot of activities though. Theres a certain person in charge of like getting people in trouble a Caucasian gentlemen that turns into a tomato when he gets angry. He literally yelled at the top of his lungs because i had headphones on in the hallway and i was a little freshman and i cried but he yelled like iv never been yelled at before as if he had that kind of authority to. If you send your child to this school i recommend being involved with your child making sure no one mistreats them as if they were just some little kid and they get treated with the respect they deserve. Make sure the teachers encourage instead of saying things like "are you sure you want the test you might just fail" also if you end up going to the school be nice to lunch ladies because they are fam. The custodians are super nice and some of the security guards are as well but the main problem is the office they might seem professional to you adults but when you send your kid off to fend for themselves it completly changes. Also the uniform is a joke. Polo and jeans? Are you joking ? Anyone could sneak in with polo and jeans. For a child only owning black clothing this sucks and its florida why would we wear jeans... Its ridiculous. You can get a waver though so to be honest its idiotic. I recommend taking film the teacher is great as well. Also the hallways are to gross and pact all you smell is everyones armpit if you're short. Hope this review helps. ALSO EVERYONE IN AP OR HONORS OR MOSTLY EVERYONE CHEATS AND ITS REALLY ANNOYING. They use little papers infront of their desks in the indent inchairs and all help each other cheat and being the only one studying and watching others cheat and get better grades really pisses me off ."
"We are so fortunate to have such a great school offering 27 AP courses, an iPrep Academy and the new Cambridge Magnet program all under one roof! The Principal is doing an outstanding job and she has a loyal and well-managed administration. Anyone looking for the best comprehensive high school in Miami should look at Palmetto!"
"This is the best comprehensive high school in Miami-Dade County. 2800 students, most of whom are high-achieving and goal-oriented, are challenged by dozens of AP courses, nationally-ranked clubs and academic teams, great school spirit and outstanding faculty. $29 million dollars has been allotted to build MPSH a new building starting in 2015, so that the facilities can be as awesome as the education the school offers."
