"Do NOT send your child to this school where instructors look down upon the children here and are RUDE to parents. The instructors can not articulate a complete sentence, specifically my sons homeroom teacher. I was even yelled at by a Ms. Durant for questioning her about refusing food to my 11 year old child. My child was penalized because I complained to administration about his teacher and was forced to endure an in school detention. I had to send three emails, the final email threatening to contact the county and DOE if no one responded, however contact has already been made. I have yet to communicate with the principal. I have witnessed the manner in which the children are treated and it appears as if they do NOT care about the well being and education of these children. Let's be 100% clear, this school is primarily minority children of color who are treated as second class and as if they do not matter. As a parent who values education with multiple college degrees I find it highly unacceptable the manner in which this school operates. It is so bad that I am in process of locating a different school for my son. I do hope the issues at this school are remedied with educators who actually "care" about children, regardless of ethnicity. They will deny the racial caste bias I have exuded however, the truth is the truth. If i could have rated -0- stars I would have but I had to at least rate 1 star."
"Fairview is a great school for those who really want to go far in their future career and especially life. I am in the IB Magnet Program and as a matter of fact enjoy almost every moment there. The teachers are great and make class material a little bit more fun. There is some segregation between the IB and general side except for at lunch and some school celebrations and field trips ( e.g Wakulla Springs falcon card trip, Spring Dance). Unlike what some commenters said I know some general kids who enjoy school and know the importance of their grades and keep there grades high ( A/B honor roll). Some kids need to watch their mouths when talking. Overall great school your child will make lots of friends and memories."
"I personally been in there IB program and their non-magnet program. My year in IB was very challenging but I decided that I don't want to continue the program. Their Magnet program is very good for high educated student who are wanting a challenge in school. The Non-Magnet side of the school is not as tough as IB but it taught me some life lessons that the magnet program couldn't teach. Overall this is a great school but, there is a lot of foul mouth kids there."
"I love Fairview! It is a really good school for those who want to get ahead of the game for education and be prepared for high school. I do think that there are some problems with the way that the school is divided though. Since there is an IB Program and General Program, often times we are segregated for field trips, school events, and even the classes a student can take. This can be good for some students who need a room of kids at the same level of learning as you, but for others, it can be un-benifical. To each his own, but I definatley recommend Fairview as a school to conscider when choosing schools!"
"Fairview Middle School is definitely an educational challenge, but after going through the IB Program myself I have to say it is a challenge I am very happy I took part in. The teachers in the IB Program are quality and care about their students, not only preparing their students for future careers but for life- making them better people along the way. I've seen myself really grow throughout my years in the IB program at Fairview, and I owe it all to the great teachers I've been fortunate enough to have. The education is superb and the IB Program prepares students to compete on an International Scale, which is why I would recommend this school to the most dedicated students who want to go far in life."
