"Good morning I have something to complain about at your Brooks hospital. People are leaving for better pay and better respect from the managers and head lead person. You two great employees that stand out to me. 1 employee has been there over a year and has had her ours cut once you brought someone new in. She didn't even get to know the stuff before listening to tell her what days they work and shifts they work. Before she just started cutting the people hours. Then another person been there over a year as well. But she come in the her favorite people. Then they can call out or tell her I'm not working a shift it's ok. But when one of these team members do it they get called in the office and told thru could be with a job."
"We were very happy with the amazing staff and great care our mom received. Everyone genuinely seems to want you to succeed and are very good at pushing the patients to work hard while being encouraging and supportive. Highly recommend!"
"BEWARE loved ones of dementia and/or COPD patients!!! The staff at this facility is not trained for elderly dementia patients. My 85-year-old mother was admitted here from a hospital and it was horrific. Her transfer from the hospital was later in the evening and upon admission into a dark room a nurse photographed every cavity of her body like she was entering a federal correctional facility. There was ZERO compassion or any respect of her dignity. The nurse barely spoke English and treated my dear, sweet mother like a homeless drug addict. My mother was terrified. I was terrified. The nurse questioned me multiple times, as if my mom was a criminal. It was torture that set her back months and she passed away today, never learning to walk again as she was admitted to Brooks to learn. They had activities every day and they would go to patients rooms and wheel them to the activity and from the activity, but they would not go get my mom for activities. I had to go to Brooks and wheel her to and from activities myself and participate in activities with her. They insisted she needed a "sitter" every night from 7pm to 7am, which cost us $4,000 during her stay there. Medicare should have paid me, not them. When transitioning her from Brooks to memory care, their social worker/care coordinator referred me to a useless resource. I reached out to a Place For Mom and Brook's social worker dismissed a Place For Mom and discouraged me from working with them. Due to my mom being on oxygen it was difficult to find a memory care unit to accept her. The Brooks social worker recommended long-term nursing home care, even though I explained my mom had long-term care insurance. The social worker's resource provided zero assistance in transition. A Place For Mom found the very best memory care facility for my mom at the time. My mom's stay exceeded the twenty days Medicare pays for 100%, likely because my mom retired from service as an accountant with the federal government and had supplemental insurance that covered the remaining 20% after the first 20 days. Brooks Rehab got paid by Medicare and her supplemental insurance 100% for doing much more harm than good. I look back now and realize it's only about the money for Brooks. It breaks my heart my mom had to go through Brooks "rehab". Just prior to her discharge she was sent by ambulance to Baptist South Hospital with pneumonia as she had actually aspirated at Brooks Rehab because they were ill-equipped to manage the care of a dementia patient on oxygen. They dropped her food tray off at her room with no assistance. I had to be there for meals to cut the food up for her. They dragged their feet when I asked for an assessment for her mental state as she had rapidly declined during her stay there. They placed an order for the assessment, but the the company they contracted with to do the assessment was late and worthless. During my mom's stay we were dismissed by the staff. They would pass us in the common areas with heads down and without making eye contact, and we had no connections to anyone to get questions answered. We were mostly ignored unless they were calling us late at night asking for us to stay the night with her or hire sitters. I had to stand at doorways to "offices/small, shared spaces" for 30 minutes at a time to get someone's attention to ask simple questions. Baptist South was absolutely the best, caring. and most compassionate place for my mom. They carefully reduced many of her medications and she was able to communicate with us and became more cognitive. She found her final place at Brookdale, St. Augustine memory care unit, where she met friends and was cared for with immense dignity and respect. She passed peacefully today at Flagler Hospital under Vitas Hospice care who are God's angels on earth. Brooks Rehab at Bartram is absolutely not equipped for handling elderly dementia patients. Do NOT send your elderly loved one to Brooks. Brooks is the beginning of the end for them. Simply the worst."
"Beautiful facility, clean and well staffed. Attentive to patients and will do almost anything for you. State of the art facility"
"These beds are by far worst quality hospital bed I've ever been in. Worst part about the facility is they don't let you do anything besides 1-3 hours of pt then 21 to 23 hours of being in these horrible beds. Places like this are designed to keep you in worst condition because no one will ever improve from laying in bed this much. You have 0 freedom and rights at the location. They won't even let you sign a waiver that let's you look out your window without bed alarms for 10 seconds a day. Out patient care or a different facility is very highly recommended. Don't leave your loved ones to suffer in these beds like I am suffering in these beds."
