Reviews of Rejoice Restaurant and Bar
"It was a nice atmosphere, and they were only about three people. Once I arrived. I ordered the egusi+Goat and Jollof rice and a bottle of water. The rice was greatt and wonderful however the egusi and goat were not up to standard the goat was very tough to eat and lacked flavor. I asked the woman if I can exchange my dish as I only had been eating for about 2-5 min. The young lady often disappeared to the back which delayed my opportunity to ask for a different meal. She stated that she could not give me a different meal without charging me an additional fee for a whole new meal. I explain to her that I just spent $31 on my meal so why would I pay an extra $15. I did ask her if she can just charge me for the rice because I’ll actually like the rice and take the other dishes back. She explained that she couldn’t do that. I asked if there’s someone else in the building that could and she stated that her manager had just left for the day. She disappeared to the back and spoke to a male gentleman. That gentleman then came to the counter and pretended that he knew nothing of what was going on so I approached him and said good evening are you the manager and he responded huh?! I asked again excuse me, sir are you the manager and then he says yes I’m the manager what’s going on as if he already didn’t know what the problem was. This male made the experience the worst I have ever gone through when it comes to food. He continue to raise his voice and give me laws and policies about Walmart, and stating that they don’t except exchanges or refunds for food. Once it’s sent out the kitchen and the customer touches it then they can’t take it back or refund the money regardless, if the customer is satisfied or not. I asked him is that written anywhere in their policies, or in the receipt and he just shook his head. I didn’t ask for his name, and which he gave me duly. The name seem to be alive because he continue to mumble under his breath. He doesn’t care anything about a negative review and said I can just disputed if I want to, but he is not giving me my money back or taking the food. I ended up leaving the restaurant dissatisfied and not wanting to cause a scene in front of other customers because I didn’t want to ruin their experience. However, he did graces voice plenty of times that I had to record him. This is not a way for small business owners at all to have someone like that in their restaurants, and I know he is not the actual owner. He just presented himself to be because a manager would never carry themselves in that way. I don’t know about you guys, but I will steer away from them just because of the service I received, FYI if you don’t like the food, it’s all well and you’re stuck with the bill regardless, if you like it or not, the only thing I would say was the rice was good I would’ve been happy to just pay for the rice and leave everything else I even tip the cashier that rang me up. She was nice when she took my initial order but once I advise her that I wasn’t satisfied with the meal, her attitude change, and she became very dismissive. I didn’t get her name only the fake name from the mail gentleman It’s not about the money it’s the principal and I think Customer Service goes a long way. That fake manager and young lady has bad customer service!!!!!! They told me they rather me leave a review then give me a partial refund or exchange food. Tough goat meat no no no"
"This place is nice to find good African food in Fort Lauderdale. The environment is really cool with afrobeat vibe. They have clean restrooms. I recommend it."
"This was my first time trying African food and I found this place on Google and I was super excited and while the food tasted great the customer service experience needed some work. So the first time here we decided to dine-in. We sat down and reviewed the menu and after about 10-15 minutes the decision was made but we were never advised that no one would come to our table and we had to go back to the counter to place the order. Now after 20 minutes we decided go back to the counter and order. I got the chicken and beef with Jollof rice and it was GREAT. The problem came with the wait for the order which was almost 30 minutes and then the waitress/chef forgot what the order was the begin with….twice which the waitress had to come ask and then a 2nd time to confirm what we ordered. Now the second time we ordered from here off of UberEats instead and while the wait was expected because it was being delivered to pompano the order was wrong. I ordered chicken and got goat."
"Went in here for the experience, wanted to try something authentic. The place is nothing to write home about, it’s a place to eat food straight up and nothing more by way of a ambience or service. The well meaning gentleman who took the order was rambling, slow and did his best to explain the dishes which was much appreciated though slightly exasperating. Ordered the Jollof rice and accompanying meat dish. He wrote it down on a piece of paper and promptly bought me the Amala instead. Well, moving on… The food itself I imagine is pretty authentic. Ordered the Jollof rice, had the unexpected Amala. My friend ordered the Fufu and we sampled stuff off each other’s plates. The Jollof rice was indeed tasty. My chicken and goat curry that came with the amala had a gooey texture which I suppose comes from the okra. For me it was off putting and the Amala had a certain odor to it which I didn’t enjoy. The Fufu tasted of nothing by itself but it was alright with the meat gravy and chunks. I guess as with any ethnic food, it has to grow a bit on you, some more than others, while you acquire the taste for it. The patrons seemed to be enjoying the food so I guess I’ll get there one day :)"
