LECOM School of Pharmacy

The LECOM School of Pharmacy, located at 5000 Lakewood Ranch Boulevard in Bradenton, Florida, is dedicated to caring for students and ensuring their success. The faculty, many of whom hold advanced degrees in education, are committed to providing students with the best opportunities to become Doctors of Pharmacy. The school offers three pathways to the PharmD degree, including a four-year distance education pathway, a three-year accelerated pathway in Erie, and a four-year pathway in Bradenton.

Established in 2002 by the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM), the School of Pharmacy aims to meet the growing national need for pharmacists. The curriculum is designed to align with the patient-centered care approach of osteopathic medicine. Students are prepared to provide optimal therapeutic outcomes through a structured classroom and experiential curriculum.

LECOM's innovative year-round curriculum allows students to complete the professional program in pharmacy in three years instead of four, enabling them to enter the job market or residency earlier. The curriculum includes a strong foundation in pharmaceutical sciences, basic sciences, and clinical sciences, as well as Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE) in community and clinical settings.

The mission of the LECOM School of Pharmacy is to prepare pharmacy professionals committed to providing high-quality, ethical, and empathetic patient-centered care. The vision is to graduate pharmacists who are skilled clinicians achieving optimal therapeutic outcomes. With a focus on creating a student-centered education, LECOM offers three distinct learning pathways for the PharmD degree at its Erie and Bradenton campuses, as well as through online distance education. All pathways offer the same spectrum of courses and experiential education, supported by state-of-the-art facilities and the Center for Drug Information and Research (CDIR) for independent research and analysis.
