Reviews of NUC University – Florida Technical College Kissimmee
"Critical Review of the HVAC Program at Florida Technical College, Kissimmee Campus As a student enrolled in the HVAC technician certification program at Florida Technical College’s Kissimmee campus, I find myself compelled to share my experiences, particularly concerning the inadequacies in the equipment and materials provided for our training. Despite the program’s promising curriculum that suggests a comprehensive education in HVAC systems repair and maintenance, the reality falls significantly short of expectations. Firstly, the program is hampered by a glaring lack of properly working equipment. For a field that relies heavily on hands-on experience with machinery and tools, this deficit severely hinders the learning process. The practical aspect of HVAC training is crucial, as it prepares students for real-world scenarios. Unfortunately, the existing equipment is often out of service or in poor condition, which does not allow for the thorough and rigorous practice expected in such a technical discipline. Furthermore, the materials necessary to repair and conduct lab exercises are frequently insufficient. This scarcity of resources not only limits the scope of learning but also impedes the ability to practice essential repairs and maintenance tasks. The hands-on experience is vital in the HVAC industry, and the lack of adequate materials for practice casts doubts on the program’s effectiveness in preparing students for the workforce. The concerns mentioned above point to a broader issue of program support and investment. The success of technical training programs heavily depends on the availability of current and fully functional equipment, as well as a steady supply of materials needed for training purposes. The deficiencies observed in the HVAC program at the Kissimmee campus suggest a need for significant improvements to meet the educational standards and expectations of students aspiring to become skilled technicians in the HVAC field. In conclusion, while the HVAC technician certification program at Florida Technical College, Kissimmee offers a promising pathway for aspiring technicians, the lack of proper equipment and materials severely undermines its potential. For the program to fulfill its educational objectives and adequately prepare students for their future careers, it is imperative that these issues are addressed with urgency. Investments in updated equipment and sufficient materials are crucial steps toward enhancing the quality of education and training provided to HVAC students. My hope is that this review serves as constructive feedback for the institution, highlighting areas for improvement that can elevate the program to the standards that students, like myself, expect and deserve."
"For the barbering program it is all computer work . Over 3+ assignments due every week plus test . Teachers leaving and being changed last second . Get ready to have the cheapest equipment offered as well . When entering this school you will be told they will have hair services on walk in clients like a real barber shop which is 100% lies , you are told last second once in class that you will need to bring in your own clients or trust each other to cut classmates hair which gets old super quick and isn’t enough to establish a real clientele or shop skills . They have a Solon that has been ranted and raved about opening back up for walk ins which has never come close to happening. Each assignment is usually essays and 20+ questions than definitions from the online book followed by test every single week . There is only 3 days of school 9-1pm . Everything being taught at this school can be easily learned at home on YouTube . If you want to learn book work about barbering and not the actual hands on skill of barbering than this is the place for you ! During the walk through/tour it seems nice and everyone is cool but this program is really not good for hands on real life/ practical skills . Be ready to spend 95% of your time doing computer work to become a “master barber”. And to give real life perspective I’ve recently ran into a graduate from this school at a busy barbershop I go to struggling to get clients and do decent work to get by ,mostly sitting in the chair on the phone while every else is performing clean cuts on walk ins making $… halfway through the school year currently and more than half the students are still scared to hold clippers and can’t perform a basic haircut unless they were self taught previously at home ! Beware of this program . 1 star for effort."
"I had a wonderful experience! The staff was amazing, especially Jerell Vargas and Carlos Flores. They gave me a lot of information and helped so much with my enrollment into the school!"
"Amazingly great assistance with all the forms with Carlos Flores Director of financial aide and Patricia from admissions, and Alexis Medina! They all made getting in and set up and moving forward super easy!"
"Stay away from this "college". Read the reviews. It has a D- rating from the Better Business Bureau. FTC hired a good marketing team for their website, but don't be fooled by it. Some students have given it great reviews, but when you come from a place that lacks to the the land of plenty, everything seems great!"
