Reviews of River Springs Middle School
"My child came home crying everyday, she was bullied by students, staff, and teachers. I regret sending her there everyday. She now has PTSD and anxiety thanks to this school. I definitely recommend NOT sending your kid here unless you hate him or her. Here is just a small amount of teachers and staff that bullied my student, Zabalo, Gotlib, Stacey Brackney, Nancy Moriss. They never helped my child and bullied her they deserve to be fired. There is so many more, I just can't think of their names."
"Good school, but there are to many fights and the teachers are unfair about a lot of stuff. Also the bus 607s bus driver is a terrible bus driver. He makes the boys seats in the front and he makes us sit next to 7 and 8 graders when we are in 6th, so all of bullying everywhere. The teachers don't forgive anything and you get in trouble for anything."
"My sons first year at this scool an he has autism spectrum disorder so he acts a little weird at times or doesn't know how to socialize properly. He gets bullied everyday and he doesn't want me involved because he says it will make it worse. He has told the bus driver an the principal an they have done nothing. I have never gotten a phone call or anything but it's not just the schools fault it's the kids parents an how they raise their kids. They just let them do whatever ever they want. Remember they are children not adults they need good structure an discipline. Proper discipline not to be bullied themselves by their parents or their own family members. We have to set a good example so they can set a good example an so on."
"I have been a parent at RSMS for three years, and I have noticed that its quality is declining. Like many other parents, my son too has been bullied, and the staff failed to reply and take appropriate measures even though they were aware of it because my son had written several statements, until it became more serious and they were legally liable. The administration is clearly incompetent, but also inconsistent. They reinforce rules as they please. At parent pick-up, for instance, some parents pick up their kids right off the curve, and I have seen a teacher who is on "parent-traffic duty" let it go several times. This inconsistency adds to another problem: the traffic, which is nothing less than terrible. Only one lane is open, so it takes at least 20 minutes to make it out of the school in the afternoon. You would have to get there about an 1 hour and 15 minutes earlier to make it out of there on without getting stuck in the traffic. Some parents have no choice but to park their cars on the shoulder, which puts the walking students' safety at risk. Worse yet, it takes teachers even longer to respond, and unless you follow up with two or three e-mails, you will never get a reply. There are a few dedicated and admirable teachers, many of whom go the extra mile, but I am surprised to see that they are the exception. When a parent complains and meets in a conference, you can feel the defensive attitude of the school staff. It seems like they have a "school vs parents/ students" mindset. If they do not collaborate with the parents and students, however, they will lose their support. I think it's time for the school board to do something regarding this."
