"Beware before you go here. I went for a refill for a prescription, as directed by my new Dr., who as a new patient I could not get an appointment for 2 months. Shame on me, I should have done more to investigate, but following my new Dr.'s instructions I went to ER. Long story short, I am billed almost $400 for the ER Dr ( I expected it) but then receive a bill from the Hospital for $2000. Just to get a refill on prescription. This is why our Health Care System is the worst in the world and why people don't go to Dr's."
"Went to the ER last night, didn't feel appreciated, i have a migraine with nauseas and photo sensibility. Also a bad cough that make me feel too much pain. They just gave me pills. I went to ER cause nothing help me with the migraine and fever. I was in pain but i feel that i was making loss their time. So i came back home with a migraine, that i still having, fever again and my prescription is not ready cause they need it to resend it to another pharmacy. I wont be back to this hospital for nothing. This is horrible. I will refuse to pay that ER bill. The didn't help me at all"
"What a frustrating situation that because of your negligence and malpractice, we lost our mother. You had no empathy, you did not take your work serious and professionally, so much so that this hospital should be closed. How is it possible that in your ICU department you are short of employees? How is it possible that you have nurses working there that do not seem capable of taking care of themselves let alone of patients? There was a nurse in the ICU department who was elderly and seemed lost as a nurse, which did not give me any peace of mind when leaving my mother in the hands of that nurse. How is it possible that my family begged them until the last moment to transfer my mother to another hospital because we did not feel comfortable with what seemed like poor management. Mistakes were made and the staff had nothing but excuses. You played with my mother's health. You killed my mother and other patients. They call this hospital the hospital of death and I already experienced that firsthand. My mother was recovering well, and my mother wanted to live. Even some of the nurses who saw my mother when our family was present in the room with her, saw how strong my mother was with the desire to live. However, she was given the proper care, some staff members did not attend to her properly. How can it be possible that the machines keeping my mother alive were ringing, my mother herself was able to press the button to call for the nurse and no one went to the room to check on her until it was too late. Then to add insult to injury the staff members without my family’s consent, made the decision to unplug the machines keeping her alive, without any regard to the families wishes. No notice whatsoever. Where is empathy? Where is the compassion for a families loved ones? Why did the staff members who seemed like they did not care for the patients take up this profession? If they are not going to take it seriously, they have staff members who are not suitable to work there, let alone the administration. This hospital should be closed, you took my mother away from me and you took away an extremely important person from my family, you destroyed an entire family. My mother came in on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 and because of how terrible the service was, she died Monday, January 15, 2024"
"My grandmother was in the ICU for not even a week, she had collapsed lungs but she was recovering and doing well each day. The family did not feel great about the hospital to begin with because of its bad reputation aka “The Killer Hospital” and were in process of getting her transferred to Orlando Regional Health by the downtown area. My grandmother was so eager to get out of there and never got to leave the hospital she did not want to be in. She was admitted on a Wednesday and was in process of the transfer Friday and by Monday morning she passed away. She was perfectly fine aside from having a breathing tube down her throat, which she wanted out badly but she could not breathe properly without it. She was doing pretty good aside from the lungs, she took good care of herself, the hospital tried to give her medication she was allergic to without obtaining her medical records from the hospital she always went to, they gave us a hard time when we requested the transfer as well. During the weekend staff members mentioned how short staff they were in the ICU department, my family and I would be with her from the start of visiting hours at 8 am on the dot until the end at 8 pm. We did not feel comfortable leaving her alone when we had to leave, now there were some great nurses like Lance who my grandma liked very much. By Sunday everyone was surprised how well my grandma was doing, she was very responsive and could understand everything normally, but could not speak because she had a tube down her throat. That caused her mouth to buildup saliva and she would want us to clean it up and use a suction tube that was provided to clean up that buildup. When my family and I were there we would make sure she was taken care of, but once we had to leave we worried and told the overnight nurses to take good care of her. Sunday she was perfectly fine and looking forward to leaving that hospital, we were still waiting for the transfer but supposedly by Monday she would be transferred was the exception. That would be the last time we would see my grandmother alive, the nurse that night shift was some old fellow who seemed slow and not attentive. My family was more worried and had this bad feeling leaving that night but thought it was just nothing. The following morning my mother would get a call around 7:50 am that my grandmother passed away. We were told many different stories and excuses, apparently my grandmother’s breathing machine was beeping since 6 am as was told to us by a staff member in the ICU and no one had checked on her, the beeping I believe meant there was air stuck in the tube so the oxygen was not flowing out properly and for over an hour no one checked on her. Mind you by 7 am the shifts change and the day shift nurses come in and get ready for their shift, so I imagine no one noticed or checked on my grandmother until about 7:10 am or so. By this time my grandmother was suffering and I imagine struggling to breath and at this point we were told they performed cpr on my grandmother for 30 minutes. Also to note the bed has buttons on both sides where my grandmother can press and call for the nurse and we always told her “call the nurse if you need anything”, we stressed the importance of the button which was a big orange button that she had within reaching distance, on her left and right. I know for sure my grandmother was pressing that button and again no one responded or checked on her and by the time someone finally came it was too late. So now they do cpr for 30 minutes but my grandmother is gone by this point, they call my mother who is her caretaker, around 7:50 and again at 7:54 to tell her she passed away and then they proceeded to unplug her machines that were helping keep her alive without my mother’s say so. I say all this to say that my grandmother would have been alive still if she got the proper and diligent attention and care that you would expect an ICU to provide to your loved ones. If you cherish your loved ones, stay away from this hospital and especially its ICU department. They failed my grandma."
"My mother came here to have the Watchmen devise inserted. The hospital was friendly and clean, and the rooms were very nice and clean. Overall, her care was spot on, and she had very friendly care. I must say the outside needs some attention. The curb appeal is lacking, and the outside needs paint and pressure washed, landscaped and attention, faded signs, curbs need painted and garbage everywere. However, the caretaker do better. I am a property manager, so my eye pay attention to details. I gave the hospital 5 stars because of the care, not the hositals appearance. Thank you, Lake Monroe Hospital, for taking such good care of my mom."
