"The first thing I noticed when I got here, I can immediately tell that ownership has changed. I asked the server and yes she was able to confirm, but said the kitchen was the same. This place was owned and operated by a Cuban owner, who was always present and ensured standards were up to par and the staff was on point. It is now owned by a Dominican owner and as soon as you walk in music is loudly playing. No one wants to go eat and listen to bachata or loud music playing like it's a club or bar for breakfast. When ordering, they automatically take it upon themselves to give you a large without asking you. I ordered a cafe con leche and it was cold and more milk than anything else and of course they gave me their large (upcharge). I returned it immediately, the server did offer to reheat it, but I want fresh hot coffee, not reheated coffee. The food was good. We ordered Pan con Bistec, Media Noche, Tres Golpes and The Hot Cake Combo. The eggs on the hotcake combo were not good and the Mangu was lumpy and dried. The sandwiches were good. My son ordered an orange juice, again, they brought the large, and that is not a problem. The problem came when the check came, it was $8.50 for 16 ounces. When I asked about that ridiculous price, the server opened the menu and said, the price is on the menu. Ok, you know when you sit down and they get your drink order first, and then come back for the food order. That's what happened, coffee, water and orange juice, before we even looked at the menu. $8.50 really!!! "With no Vaseline, just a match and a little bit of gasoline" as Cube said!! I really liked this place before the ownership change. Needless to say, I will never be back. One other thing, they slap a 15% service charge automatically, whether you intend on tipping or not. Please be aware and don't double tip."
"Had a fantastic experience at Cafe Pinar! Ordered two to-go boxes with Black Bean Rice, Veggies Rice, Plantains, and the Pollo Guisado—braised chicken sautéed with potatoes - and oven-roasted chicken. The flavors were outstanding, and all of it came at a reasonable price. Service was quick. Highly recommend for delicious Cuban cuisine!"
"The servers were excellent today!! We entered with a party of 14 people and they took great care of us, answered all of our questions and really provided great service. Not only did our food come out right away but everyone loved their food and I can say that my plate of rice, beans and roast pork tasted delicious. I was really impressed with the service our family received!"
"Our food was delicious. You select your food cafeteria style. We each had plates of 1 meat, 1 serving of rice, 1 container of beans, and 1 other side for $15 each plate. I had goat and my friend had beef. The 2 plates, 1 tamale, 2 bottled waters, 1 flan, and 1 tres leches cake slice was $50. The goat and flan were both 5 stars. Everything else was both good and very good. The servings were so large we ended up taking half of each plate with us. My friend from Cuba said the food was authentic. The servers were very helpful."
"On vacation with my family, we wanted some good Cuban food. We googled local places and tried Cafe Pinar out. We were greeted with a warm welcome. Nothing fancy, but these are the best places! The food was amazing. Tasted like we were eating our own family’s traditional Cuban food cooking! We had a great experience."
