"Today was my son's last day at Cypress Elem. We have had nothing but problems with the staff and students since August. My five year old came home and told me he was punched in the face. I did not hear from the teacher or anyone else regarding this fight. In November his hooded jacket turned up missing at it has not been located to this day. They changed his Kindergarten teacher after the first two months and gave no explanation why nor did we get a chance to get to know the new teacher. In Jan. or Feb. the students were taken to Westminster Academy for swimming lessons. The second day his teacher called me and said "I think he is having a reaction to the chlorine in the pool" His eyes are very red, swollen and he says it stings" "They were testing the chemicals in the water when we arrived" I said "I'll be there in 15 min. to pick him up". When I arrived, he was not in the clinic with the nurse like I assumed he would. After pacing in the office waiting area for 15 minutes, the BSO officer noticed my agitation and SHE took it upon herself to go find my child. He was located in the cafeteria with his class at lunch! His teacher never sought medical attention for my son who was very obviously in pain and discomfort due to the high chlorine levels in the pool. As I was getting my son in the car the teacher called me to tell me that he left his wet bathing suit behind on the classroom floor! I flipped out and said " Are you freaking kidding me? He can barely see! You failed to take him to the nurse! Put his suit in a bag and we will get it tomorrow!" I asked for his classroom to be changed. I was told that may take a few days to arrange so I said He would only come back if the moved him. So I was told by Mrs. Dunbar that they were putting him in another classroom and that she would take us to the room tomorrow. We went to his new classroom and met his new teacher. Then they made a student gather his things and move to my son's old class! I felt horrible! That poor kid did nothing wrong but was made to switch classes. Today was the final straw. I arrived at 1pm to pick up my son early. I saw that he had something on his shirt and shorts. He said he threw up in the grass when he was walking from drop off to his classroom. No-One helped him. He went to his class and told his teacher that he just threw up. She ignored him. He had to stay in the clothes that had vomit on them all day! I am so glad we applied for and were approved for school reassignment! Cypress Elem. is not a good school in my opinion. Aids in the cafeteria do not help the children with their lunches. At least 3 days a week my son brings most of his lunch home because no-one was around to help him open things. And they say they have an open door policy and you can come and check out what your kid is doing, but that is only if you are accepted as a volunteer. There is no way to confirm for yourself what your child is telling you."
"I went to cypress for my 5th grade year and I loved it. I'm in high school now and man do I mis elementary work. I'll give a shout out to Mrs.Session. At the time, I may have thought you were mean but compared to my teachers now...I'm not even sure I wanna go there lol."
