Reviews of Nathan's Famous
"Great place to grab a warm dog on a cold, dry bun."
"Fish and fries no drink $13 really !! Greasy fish and burnt fries not worth it at all! Very slow service."
"Worst experience ever! One person working, took 10 minutes to order the food, another 10 to cook, my apple pie was still frozen on the inside and the workers have no communication when we order food. Every now and then another worker from another food place would come but it only speeds up the time about .5 times!!! It’s been a half hour and we still haven’t gotten our food and there was only one person in front of us before. SAVE YOUR TIME AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE."
"Don't bother!! What a rip off. First, on a Saturday night at 5:15 pm only one person taking orders - looked like they were shorthanded in all areas of staffing. Had a coupon for buy one hot dog, get one free. I asked if I could pay for the Chili dog meal and just get the single hot dog for free and they couldn't do that - huh???? It's a no brainer and I would be spending MORE money by purchasing the chili dog meal. Even the manager said it couldn't be done. I asked for a cup for ice water, and was given a plastic cup the size of a Dixie cup you put in your bathroom for mouthwash. I know they have to worry about people filling water cups with soda, but a 4 oz. cup is ridiculous! Other restaurants find ways to get around the soda theft. The hot dogs are a huge disappointment: almost $4 for a skinny hot dog that was nothing special. I was happy we got one free because I figured at least the actual cost turned out to be closer to $2. How can Costco sell you a giant, all beef, delicious hot dog - with a soda - for $1.50? We ordered a large order of bacon cheese fries and they were just under $5 and another huge disappointment. The fries are soggy and mushy. We will not be going back. No value, no quality, no service. I would have given this zero stars if that were an option."
"Nathan's Coney Island Hotdogs may be famous, but you'd think after being in the hot dog business a hundred years (yep 100 years) that they would have partnered with a bakery to solve the Too Long problem. You know -- either the dog is too long or the bun is. Here, the dogs are 'way to long for the bun! I must say I was not impressed. First off, I hate dining in a warehouse -- too high ceilings that reflect every clatter and clash of the kitchen and babble from the guests, and subject the diners to the resulting cacophony. Granted, it was a bright, clean, and neat warehouse, but still a warehouse. Second, the hot dogs weren't anything to write home about. I ordered the Nathan's Regular Hot Dog. A naked signature hotdog on a bun. With a tiny order of fries I wasn't really asking for. Not a nice plump dog worth nearly $4 -- a long thin dog cooked on a roller table, but not browned to bring out any flavor. This is a famous hot dog?? Not to me. The crinkle-cut fries were more soggy than brown and crispy. The 6 Fried Shrimp for $1.99 were barely worth $1.99, and I had to pay extra, not substitute them for the fries. They were sort of shrimp-flavored crispy breading with a tail. The shrimp were so flattened they were almost non-existent -- what you get when you buy undersized shrimp and smash them flat to make them look bigger. Still they were an interesting "loss leader", and better, IMHO, than the hot dog. Next time I'll get two orders of the shrimp and skip the hotdog. Yeah, I'll go back -- to sample the co-brands offerings -- Arthur Treacher's Fish & Chips, and Kenny Rogers Roasters Chicken. But I'm not holding my breath for great fast food here..."
