"Our son went to this school for only 1 year & he was constantly physically harassed by another student in his class from when he started school in august untill december. Our son came with a record of awards for good conduct & principal honor roll all his 3 years prior. This situation was addressed by us to his teacher & the principal & the superintendants office & nothing was done for a full 5 months. According to his teacher, it was out of her hands & the principal did nothing about it for 5 months. My son had only 1 teacher. This was by far the worst experience my son has had in any school. The only bad experience he had in any school. He had a GREAT gifted 3rd grade teacher & we are super grateful for that & that was the only reason we did not pull him out in the middle of the school year. BEWARE parents the principal will not care for your kid if he or she is not african american."
"I am a parent to an ADHD student that attends avocado elementary. This morning I wake up with my son and he’s super excited and tells me he has a field trip I was not aware of the field trip because a field trip form was never given but I take my sons word and decide to walk him into class and see if I can pay for the field trip and sign whatever form necessary. As we go into his class all the kids are ready for the field trip everyone excited and I ask the teacher about the form and she informs me my son is not allowed due to his behavior broke my heart that a school would single out a child who can not control his behavior a child who’s on medication and not allow him to go on the field trip or atleast inform the parents or allow the parents to attend the field trip with there child if they believe they can’t handle the child. It’s discrimination and I don’t appreciate anyone making my child feel different or be treated differently because of his disability. My son is only five and he does not understand or is able to voice his opinion but I sure will make it be known. If the school is not equipped to have children’s with disabilities they should inform the parents."
"Avocado is an A school! We are very happy with our child coming to this school. Teachers and staff are great and really care about your child's education and success. Grateful for Mrs. Bowens and Mrs. Montgomery, wonderful teachers!"
