Nelson Elementary School

"I went to that school and was bullied terribly, nobody did ANYTHING until my parents threatened to call the school board, I suggest that the school focuses on bullying for once, the teachers are terrible, my reading teacher watched me get bullied and laughed with the students. Instead of focusing everything on grades and to be on top of the ‘best school in the state list’ they should focus on bullying a little, it has gotten outta hand >:( I wish I could give this 0 stars... Also, the teachers swear in front of kids, my computer teacher was cussing up a storm when my computer wasn’t working and blamed it all on me... when it was HER fault:’("

"NOT VERY TRUSTWORTHY! They reported that a child was receiving speech therapy.... But the child wasn't!!! THE TEACHER told the parents the speech therapist "had seen the child twice". However, the therapist, said she never seen the child. "Then" when in a parent teacher meeting; the teacher "finally admitted" she knew THE THERAPIST HAD NOT SEEN THE CHILD. BE CAREFUL IF YOU CHILDREN ATTEND THIS SCHOOL! DON'T TAKE THE ADMINISTRATION AT THEIR WORD!!!"

"There is only one reason I'm giving this school a 4 star. But I'll get to that in a minute. But first, this school is great. Some of the staff is nice, others not so much. The principal, was the assistant principal. She is great, will take care of anything. My son had a problem with another student, that student was bulling my son, and she took care of it immediately. Now the reason I'm giving this school a 4 star. His 2nd grade year, was not a good year. His 2nd grade teacher.... I was taught not to say mean things, so I'll leave it like that. But another then that year, it was a great school."

"Excellent school! The staff is friendly and the principal really cares about the children! I recommend this school to everyone. The only drawback is the traffic leaving the school in the morning on Durant and Dover!"

"I have three kids that attend Nelson. One is gifted, one has autism and ODD and my other is perfectly average. Prior to attending Nelson we were a homeschooling family. I'm nothing short of astounded with the amount of support we've received with all three children and the true care that shows through from the principal to each of their teachers and the amazing support staff. I had major apprehensions about sending my kids to any public schooling and am so glad we did! The quality of education is wonderful and every one of the kids' teachers is a true teacher at heart."
