"Don't go here for the ambiance!! Food ( wings) were OK. BBQ sauce had a strange, powerful tomatoe taste and smell. Brisket sandwich was good, garlic toast and fries were good. No alcohol! 2 meals, 2 sodas $30. Didn't get burned, but wouldn't go back."

"Starving and almost lost from diving at a local spring I saw all the vehicles parked at this “joint”. So glad I went in. This would not have been my first choice just looking for a place while driving. Wonderful smiling service in a very small town ambience. I had the brisket and it was an 11 out of 10. I imagine the whole menu was as good. The key lime pie also was as amazing that from a Floridian since the seventies."

"I stopped here on my way home from Cross City to Tampa. I arrived on a Monday morning just as they were opening at 11am. The service staff were extremely helpful, friendly and polite. I had the Lunch Special with a couple extra sides: A regular size Pulled Pork Sandwich, Cole Slaw, Fried Okra, Corn Nuggets and Sweet Tea. The portions were generous. This was some of the best BBQ I've had. The meat was tender, juicy, delicious and there was plenty of it! Three choices of BBQ sauce: sweet, mild and hot. The sandwich bun was soft and fresh. I got a pint of Brunswick Stew to go and ate it that night for dinner. It was delicious as well. The place lived up to it's name: BBQ "shack", but it was clean and comfortable. The restroom was clean as well. I highly recommend the BBQ Shack next time you're in the Fanning Springs area and craving barbecue."
