"We enjoyed our food, service, and the view at the Shack! Dropped in for a New Year’s Day lunch. Our server Shelly took great care of us checking on us often and making sure everything was okay. Fried pickles app were amazing! Two of us had Fish tacos, one had the shrimp and salad. I had the Baja shrimp taco with delicious bang bang shrimp and pineapple relish inside. So good!"
"The food was amazing and so was the view!! The service was great! Although you may have to wait a bit to be greeted when busy, the kindness and helpfulness of the servers outweighs that. It was a magical experience to sit over the water during the sunset and have a delicious meal. I had the crab dip for appetizer, and the Shrimp Platter with new potatoes, and a house salad for dinner. It was all so yummy, the only thing I personally wish was that the potatoes had some more seasoning or were cut open when the garlic butter was added. They just didn't hit the special factor for me. But the shrimp was perfectly crispy, their cocktail sauce is the best I have ever had! The salad was delicious, and their ranch was so yummy! (ranch is such a hit or miss most places) I did not have to swat even one bug off of my food, and that was amazing. I did have a little butterfly come visit me, which was so sweet giving me my Disney princess moment lol"
"The Shack is a restaurant you want to visit when in Fort Walton Beach. Their Summer Salad is delicious and light. The seafood is also excellent. I had the blackened redfish with cole slaw, and I was not disappointed. Moreover, the dessert pies are made locally and taste fabulous. Excellent views of the water with the sea breeze flowing through rounds out an awesome dining experience. In addition, the staff is very friendly. Our server during our first visit is native to the area and was very helpful with providing information. She also shared excellent advice on menu choices. And the other folks were pleasant as well. They also have a shopping area where you can buy shirts, ball caps, and other gifts or souvenirs."
"With a reputation preceding it, I made my way to The Shack for a vacation dinner. The reviews hold true when it comes to the great view available while dining here; the food mostly holds up as well. Upon arrival you give your phone number to the Host and they will text you to let you know when your table is ready - a great system, especially if they are busy and you would like to browse their gift shop or walk around outside. When I was texted and seated I was lucky enough to have Hope as my server. She honestly seemed to be handling most of the back patio area yet I never once felt forgotten or left wanting for anything. She was helpful not only with the menu recommendations but as well as a other tips about the area. I started out with the fried green tomatoes with the additional topping. It was pretty good and arrived fairly quick. For my meal, I took Hope's suggestion of shrimp and grits - I am glad I listened. I chose a Caesar salad as my side and finished it just before the entree came. The shrimp were cooked to perfection, the bacon crispy, and the sauce was phenomenal despite it's richness. The grits themselves were elevated by the use of gouda and they were cooked just right to leave them at the proper consistency. I thoroughly enjoyed each bite. I am not usually a big fan of shrimp and grits but this was some of the best I have ever had. Once thoroughly stuffed I got a piece of key lime pie to go (not pictured) and it was scrumptious. Definitely the right choice for dessert. I can see why The Shack is lauded as it is and why it holds its place in the area!"
"Started out with bangin shrimp, which was great. My boyfriend had red fish, my son had chicken tacos, and I had the shrimp po' boy. The food is great. Our waitress was great. No complaints. Would definitely go back."
