Reviews of Baptist Medical Park - Nine Mile
"Plan to spend a minimum of an hour to be registered every time you visit. This registration office is where efficiency goes to die."
"Like anyone else who is in need of a brain scan such as an MRI, MRA, and MRV it’s not something you should be waiting to have done. It took a couple months to get an appointment and then I received the last-minute call to my original appointment that the machine was down and needed to reschedule. On my second appointment I arrive a little bit early thankfully to fill out my paperwork. I’ve already taken my Valium as this was going to be a 90 minute scan inside of a tube and I was brought back to make my co-payment. At that time I was told that my co-pay was going to be over $1000. Fortunately the Valium was working so I was able to be patient and professional. I said “Please allow me a moment to discuss this with my family” (whom already have taken on supporting me 100% while they are disabled and on assistance) so that I can see if I could somehow at the last minute, come up with $1000+. When I returned just a minute later she states we can make do with 25% of the payment which would be $331. I suppose she was trying to make me feel grateful when she said that my insurance is being billed over $5000, so a thousand something isn’t so bad. Due to the nature of why I need a brain scan I have been out of work since August 2022, and it’s taken this long to dance through the Line, get an appointment with a neurologist that I waited 4 1/2 months for, a scan which I waited three months for, so I obviously do not have the means to pay such an amount. My response was that I don’t have the means nor does my family, and I would have liked to have known in advance. To which the tech then said: “I tried to call you. Well, actually I saw your number on the…” (she was attempting to explain something about how she knew I had been called , but not by her). Now I don’t get out much and my cell phone is my means of everything: entertainment, connection to the outside world, information, etc, so it seemed rather unlikely that I would just not answer or listen to the voicemail or notice that the number to the hospital showed up in my missed calls in reference to the thing that’s killing me, has ended a successful career as an artist, while I become trapped in a body that responds less and less to my will. So I said well I guess that’s that and cried myself home to wait for the inevitable at 45 years of age."
"Considering how busy this facility is I have mostly positive things to say about this place such as, their quality of service, accessibility, and condition of the facility as a whole. However their hold times for all phone calls can be frustrating and their Music on Hold is combined with advertisements which is genuinely super annoying. I would greatly appreciate it if they would change the playback recording to something less annoying when you are on hold. Other than that and their long wait times, this is an excellent facility and I have a fantastic Primary Care Provider at this location."
"To say this is a horrible system just to get blood is a compliment. What a disrespectful and uncaring process for people to go through. It’s so poorly managed, no hospital administrator would want their family to go through this process. You wait in line to say you’re here and lied to about it’s going to be 45 minutes to get in. You then wait again to get called to register which took 35 minutes. Then of course you sit back down and wait over an hour and 45 minutes to get called back for your specific test, ours was bloodwork and a urinalysis. It’s pathetic to have elderly people with health issues in no condition to be waiting nealry 2 hours when you come ready to use the bathroom for a test and get simple bloodwork. The checkin person needs to stop lying about a 45 minute wait, took nearly 2 hours for something that should take 15 minutes. Pathetically managed, we will never return to this place."
"The place is very busy which is no fault of their own. Everyone needs medical attention and is entitled to it. But the receptionist answering the phones was very out of touch. I asked a simple, “Which entrance would I need to go in if I had an ultrasound, East or South?” But the receptionist that answered the phone acted as if that was an extremely hard question for her to answer, she asked me what I was getting done twice then transferred me to the radiology department. Luckily the lady in radiology knew where to direct me. I’m not originally from this area so it’s a bit confusing for me being in a new place. The receptionist needs a bit more time on actively listening rather than just transferring me to a dept that is already too busy with their own patients to answer such simple questions. ** I just want to add this rating is based on this phone experience alone. Radiology is 10,000 stars here. They are communicative and professional, super friendly, just best all around. I will be getting my imaging and radiology tests done here when I can."
