Reviews of Habitat for Humanity Sarasota ReStore
"I have had similar experiences with Habitat refusing donations. I had a $5000 couch that was in beautiful condition which they refused to take because it was “faded”. I took pictures of it and sent to manager. I guess I need glasses. I agree with the donor who said if you’re going to be so exclusive with what you will take, please don’t waste the time of the good hearted people who are trying to make a charitable donation and go buy your own new furniture."
"Prices have gone through the roof at this store. They used to be an organization that helps people but now they have turned into wanting to make a huge profit from donated goods. Like $4k for a couch. I’m sorry but that’s a little crazy coming from a store like this. Do better habitat!"
"After being told the the two recliners we were looking at were “new” we bought them despite the $400.00 ea. price tags. When we got them home, we found that one was deficient in the stuffing in the back because it has been sat on for many years. Didn’t notice it until I sat in it for a while. I had to put extra padding on top of the seat so I could sit in it. The young men when we bought it said yes, they’re new. Of course I knew they weren’t new, but expected them to be at least like new. They have the corded buttons to operate the chair. I didn’t know that that was an old fashion way of setting up the recliners the new ones don’t have that anymore so he didn’t tell us the truth. It’s on me that I didn’t know that I guess but for $400 apiece I think he should have thought more about it before he said what he said. I find a place to be over priced. The people are very friendly and it’s well laid out ."
"Friendly people, decent to great pieces, but prices have definitely gone up. You have to wait for discount to kick in. Worth the browse!"
"From Habitat for Humanity's web site: "The Habitat for Humanity Sarasota ReStore sells gently-used furniture, building materials, flooring, lighting, appliances and home decor. " We scheduled a pick up for a dining table and 6 chairs. When the pickup driver arrived, they refused the donation. Apparently, 2 of the chairs has some slight stains on the cushions. If HfH wants pristine items, I suggest they go and purchase them new. The stains were nothing that a damp cloth would not remedy. This will be the last time I donate to them. This is an photo of an item from their web site. It is definitely not in pristine condition yet perfectly usable. The items I had today were in much better shape."
