"What a fun place! Like a step back in time to a place in memory. We spent a delightful afternoon there seeing The Backlot Players perform Four Weddings and an Elvis. The actors were good, the play was hysterical! But the performers were so gracious to the audience after the play was over. They spoke, shook hands and made us all feel welcome in their theater and their town."
"The Backlot players took the Christian scouting program American Heritage Girls Troop Ga3418 on a tour to learn the ins and outs of live theatre. They were gracious and knowledgeable hosts! We didn't get to view the actual production that night because of the age range in our group. However, I have seen several performances here and always have an enjoyable experience!"
"The historic Rose Theater on the square in Forsyth, GA is known for hosting great community theater performances by The Backlot Players, Inc. The atmosphere is cozy with a seating capacity is about 150, and the people are warm, hardworking volunteers. The combination of stadium seating and wonderful acoustics makes this a perfect venue for music as well as theater."
"From the absolutely adorable downtown area in Forsyth to the awesome show at the theater, we enjoyed every part of our visit to the Rose Theater. Everyone was so welcoming and warming and charming. And a shout out to the Pickled Okra for being the perfect after show drink spot. We will definitely be back and encourage others to head to Forsyth and find this gem!!"
"They've recently added extra space for actors behind the stage, so if you're trying to get some on-stage experience, this is by no means a bad place to start. It used to be an old movie theatre, I think in the 50s. The audience members are usually little old ladies or rednecks, but don't think the shows are picked only for those audience members (even though we love our old ladies and rednecks in the South!). Lot of cool memories at the Rose. I recommend anyone studying art/theatre/entertainment in the middle-Georgia area begin here and offer to help first with technical stuff (lights/sound) before auditioning for on-stage roles, because loyalty goes a long way in small-town theatre."
