Reviews of Gas South Theater
"We love this venue. Its comfortable and there isn't a bad seat in the house. My only compaint is that the prices for a drink border on extortion. It takes the fun out of a show when the price for a drink is near the price of the show. We will be tailgating from now on, sorry Gas South, its your fault."
"Basic Overview: I attended the "A Cristmas Carol Reimagined" production at Gas South Theater. This place appears to be accessible to people of different body types and who get around by foot or other modes (I may have overlooked details as I am "able bodied"). There is ample parking and this venue appears to be child friendly. There is ample parking. There is a concession stand in the theatre and despite the size of the complex, the theatre feels like a cozy community theatre and the staff are as friendly as those you would find at a small local theatre. Specifics: Parking attendants need to wear an official uniform with thecompany logo and ID cards. During non-event hours there are standard parking meters that you find around the city. You can pay with your card and the fee is from 2 to 5 dollars up to 2 hours, I believe. However, it appears the company that owns or manages the multi level parking lot on the compound charges 10 dollars during events. The problem with this set up is the employee's look like regular people wearing green vests. So, I felt incredibly uncomfortable using my credit card to pay them for parking. Having individuals who are not clearly identifiable as employees of the theatre or parking garage is unprofessional and truly puts people at risk, including the employee's. I really wanted to see the play, so I just prayed for God's protection and paid, but that initial anxiety could have been prevented if the parking attendants actually presented themselves as employee's, i.e. via a work ID card and or an official uniform. Please do better Gas South Theater. This was a big deal for me, so it cost the theater 1.5 stars. Concession stand employee's were fast and friendly and flexible. I noticed the hot chocolate simply consisted of imitation chocolate powder and hot water. For $3.50 they could have used some whipped cream/milk or thrown in a marshmellow or peppermint. Goodness. That was the worst cup of hot coco I've ever drank. This cost the theater .5 stars. The bathrooms were clean and the theatre, overall, was well cared for. There is a box office, so if you want to avoid TicketMaster fees, then simply purchase directly from the box office. Lastly, this is a small theater and all of the seats get the same view. I purchased an orchestra seat but if I could do it over again, I would buy a side balcony seat because the chairs weren't fixed to the ground, so one could shift oneself, plus you have an unobstructed view of the stage and theater (a female wearing a voluminous afro sat in front of me, which forced me to move from side to side to see the stage)."
"We attended Gwinnett Ballet’s performance of the Nutcracker this afternoon, which we have been doing for close to 30 years. While the performance was lovely, especially being accompanied by the orchestra, it was ruined by the constant loud crackling of the plastic popcorn bags. We felt like we were at a circus or a baseball game. Even though there were signs on the doors stating no food or drink, the signs were ignored and there was no one stationed at the door to enforce the policy. If they are not going to enforce their own policy, provide cardboard containers for the popcorn. We paid over $40 each for 4 tickets, and were not able to enjoy the music at all! It is very doubtful we will ever come back after today’s experience."
"We attended JapanFest 2023 today. The complex is h-u-g-e! There was a lot of walking involved from the parking lot. Once inside, it was packed with attendees, almost to the point of one feeling overwhelmed. The complex easily handled the crowds, though. There was room for everybody!"
"Rauw Alejandro Concert 3-6-2023 Very outdated TV screens they were blurry and not UHD or 4K and small There was Big ropes blocking the views from the seats i got. The concession stands accepted card only which i do not have so apparently if you don’t have a card then you’ll be starving and thirsty How does a American business not accept legal tender CASH they didn’t open the doors at 7 even though they said doors would open at 7. They had everyone waiting past 7 which the show was supposed to start at 8 the seats were dirty if you were to shine a bright light on them you would see they are mad dirty. Rauw Alejandro’s concert gets 5 stars though ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️"
