"I am reposting this as it somehow got deleted, this was for the past summer of 2023: We have a contract for yearly maintenance with a large aircon service company. Two years in a row, they told us that the refrigerant was low and had to top it off. Each year, they send a new person out to check our aircon/furnace. We had our aircon checked last week(May 5) and a new maintenance guy came(we have not seen him before). He suggested to completely change both upstairs and downstairs units aircon and furnace because "there seems like there is a leak on the main unit since the refrigerant is gone again (3rd year in a row) and your units are so old”. The main unit is 8 yrs old and the other is 18. We bought the main unit from them and 8 yrs ago. He quoted a price of approx 20k upwards to change both units. I tried to explain that we do not turn on the air that much, but he insisted that IT IS BEST TO CHANGE IT, LET ME CALL THE SALES GUY TO COME TALK TO YOU ABOUT GETTING NEW UNITS. I had a strange feeling about what he said and decided to go with my instincts and I talked to a friend of mine who highly recommended I ask Mick from ASAP for a second opinion. She had used his services in the past and said that he was really good and honest as well. True to their company name he came a day later which was Monday(a.s.a.p.) and checked both units. He and I have the same philosophy, why change it if it is not broken, the only broken part he saw was the evaporator and he quoted $2,500 to change it. He offered that we can get a second opinion with someone else if we didn’t like his advice. Since he came highly recommended by my good friend I hired him. He got it done two days later, Wednesday(again, true to their company name). Now, I would understand if the unit was useless to the point that it would be more expensive to maintain it then of course I would have no objection to changing everything, however, if it is not broken then why replace it? The only thing that was broken was the evaporator coil. It is hard to find trustworthy people these days. Especially ones who work on your car, your aircon/furnace and large appliances. You do not see what they are doing and some really take advantage of you. I am grateful my friend recommended Mick - Mick is a professional, honest and hardworking. He was dripping in sweat since the attic was hot(it was hot the past few days, May 8,9,10), but he did not complain. He was in and out of the house working in the upstairs attic and checking the outside unit. While working on the units, he told us everything he did step by step and he also asked my husband to go up the attic and Mick showed him which part was broken and which part he was changing, he showed that the units were still in good condition and there was no need to change it. I highly recommend Mick if you want someone honest that won't push you into buying anything you do not need. He is a rare gem and of course we will be using his services from now on. He is worth 10 stars if google had that option for me to put."
