"A high-rise built in the 1960s with 200 seniors, how bad could it be? Very. The building is infested with German roaches and bedbugs and it needs to be tented to make a dent in eradication. Everything was OK when my mom moved in but within six months, she reported feeling sick. I picked her up and she was disoriented and covered in red, swollen bites. We inspected her apartment to find that it was crawling with roaches and bedbugs. It was horrifying. My husband was the only one brave enough to enter to remove a few items and take photos and videos. We quickly moved my mom to our home and had a junk removal company throw away most of her treasured items. It was very traumatic for my mom and a huge headache for us to manage this issue. We believe that an apartment near her was treated with insecticides and it pushed these bugs into her apartment suddenly as until that point, she said she’d only seen one or two on occasion but didn’t want to complain. She’d kept her place neat and tidy and had recently had an inspection to which staff told her how nice it was. Which now we’re realizing this “inspection” was probably to check for bugs due to someone in a nearby apartment reporting them. The chemicals used are not what you want you to be breathing at 65 and up, or any age. I acquired a list of them from the exterminator the building used. When they fogged my mom’s apartment, they didn’t evacuate neighboring residents and they told her to stay away for only a few hours. In a high-rise with shared walls, it doesn’t make sense. And it also didn’t work. When we returned at the end of the month to finalize her lease, it was still covered in bugs. And if you think bedbugs are no big deal - think again. They are very tough to get rid of once you have them. The exterminators we spoke with said that they don’t like handling them and when they do, they charge thousands of dollars. I feel sorry for anyone living here with nowhere else to go. We spoke to a few other residents who acknowledged that the bed bugs and roaches are just part of the building and they put up with the vicious cycle. They report them, they spray, they come back again. Photos show traps my husband put under my mom’s bed. These photos were taken post-treatment so you can see how ineffective it was. We have videos of large roaches still scurrying about her apartment after treatment. The place was inhabitable and unhealthy. Our exterminator reviewed our photos and videos and said that it appeared - based on the infestation and size of bugs - that the building did not have an effective treatment plan. I don’t know if there is anyway to help the people here but I wanted to start by making sure anyone considering this place knows this story."

"I had a chance to relocate to Georgia from Colorado when I was here the beginning of November 2019 I was told by every senior apartment assisted living I would have to fill out the paper work with joshes hard work and assistants I arrived yesterday and yes the staff is wonderful looks like the place to be as a senior. I moved here to be closer to my daughter and granddaughter what a blessing"

"My mother has lived at Calvin Court for 10 years, and it is very affordable. She really enjoys all the activities and all the friends she's made. Dinner is provided every evening (separate cost from rent) for a reasonable price. There is also a nicely appointed fitness center with a full-time fitness instructor."
